What type of house do you live in Karen? Our garden thermometer (in the sun) is reading 46degrees but indoors it is around 20. We have all doors and windows closed which does make it cooler but we haven't got all the other things you have. Do you have a lot of glass? It also sounds as if your air con isn't working very well?

It's a 1989 build.  We have cavity wall insulation, thermal window film (yes a lot of glass - double-glazed and too hot to touch), heat-reflective blinds and curtains, and ceiling fans.  But, we face due south, are on the top of a hill and completely open to the rear so get full sun from early morning until sunset.

I'd love to leave the air-con running permanently but it's so noisy and so expensive that I have to use it in just short bursts after which it warms up again quickly, so is followed by another blast.  I've always been heat-sensitive and feel it more than most.  Oh to live on the coast with a cooling breeze.....

It's just too hot for cooking.
Today was just marinading some meat, and microwaving something, dead easy really.

Tomorrow will require more direct, woman and cooker interaction.
B****r

Karenw - beware the coast and the cooling breeze.
Come the autumn, winter, they turn into force 8 freezing gales.

:sunny:  it's GREAT!  We face e/w - so sun rises and lights up the house on one side first thing, then as it moves round it heats the other end of the garden and front of house.  So we have shade at all times of day.

Limpy is right about the sea breeze. I am on the coast and when it blows it really blows. More often than not in the winter the windows are rattling.

Mind you I love the sea so will put up with a lot. I have been for a rather deep paddle the last few days. Today's paddle was so deep I had wet knickers.  ;D

Hubby laughed, he won't go in as he thinks it's too cold. But it feels so nice.
If this keeps up I will get my cozzie on and go for a swim. Bliss.
