It appears Gynest is not as strong as ovestin, so if ovestin isn't helping I can't see how this one will, I can just see myself getting worse and worse. I haven't started the new one yet, still using up the dregs of ovestin, have used it now for 21 days solid with no relief.

Carina just thought I'd mention that although Gynest is less concentrated than Ovestin, you actually get the same amount of estriol (0.5mg) per dose, because you use more of the gynest cream. The applicator for gynest holds 5ml of cream (= a teaspoonful). It's going to be messier than ovestin but better than nothing.
I've been looking in to it because I'm on ovestin and may have to switch if I can't get hold of any in the next few weeks.
Hope you get some relief soon

Thanks for your responses ladies.

I feel a little better and therefore calmer today.

I forgot to mention I don't have an active sex life and I really believe that is why I am so bad.
If I had been having sex I may have realised I had a problem and started treatment long before it got this bad.
Does that make sense?

I will let you know how I get on.

Hello Ladies
Latest update and more questions for you all. :)
I posted before asking about starting Gynest cream and was reassured by the answers I received.
My condition seemed to settle after my original bad patch and I continued on a maintenance dose of twice a week until I had used all my Ovestin.  I then started on the Gynest cream and, as recommended by the doctor, used it every night for two weeks. I found it effective, though rather messy and finished the initial course on Friday night.
So, feeling quite confident, I thought I would start the maintenace dose of twice a week and decided to use it next on Monday night.
I woke at 3.00am on Saturday night/Sunday morning in a lot of pain.
It had all come back !!!
I couldn't believe it.  It was the first night I hadn't used the cream.

Couple of questions -
Is it ok to use it continually?
If I am going to do that would I be better off with oral HRT?
Would an oestrogen implant help?

Any ideas and advice would be most welcome.

I am back to feeling unhappy and depressed again.  :(  I really can't believe I am allowing my vagina to rule my life, but I am just so aware of it all the time. :sigh:
I really feel I need some answers and only wish I could talk to the doctor in the same way I talk to all of you.  I always end up tearful and unable to express myself if I visit the surgery.

Thanks ladies, I hope you are all coping well.

I didnt use HRT
Wouldnt take it myself
I went on Ortho to start with for a year or so (didnt have AV then)
Didnt like it then I went on mini pill and Ovestin for 10 years or so then the AV started
Didnt matter that I was using Ovestin and the mini pill I was useing the Ovestin 3/4 times a week
In the end it was coming out the next day like a lump it wasnt being absorbed anymore?
After months of GO TO THE GP by Taz Clkd Tazzy and loads more I went
I started on Vagifem Feb 14th 2010 it didnt work overnight with the AV but it did take the horrific pain and sucktion feeling away in about 3 days flat gone never had that feeling back EVER
It took about 5 months or so to work properly some USA sites say it can take 6 to 12 months to work in bad cases
Mine was bad bad bad now IM not saying its a miracle cure cos AV cant be cured it can be managed
I have weeks where Im fine then out of the blue 2/3 days iffy though never like it used to be
Sex is good but again its not the same you always tense up just in case it hurts 99 out of a 100 it doesnt
Fear of the pain makes sex not as spontan as it used to be its dead sad to think thats a part of your life gone 4 ever
Even with Vagifem your lifes changed and I look upon Vagi as a medicine i never thought that way about Ovestin and the mini pill and NO I dont know why I should by now 18mnth on nearly be used to it but Im not my life is like yours
Im aware of my fanny all the time if its a teeny bit tight I freak I take my little blue pill and I calm down
If its paining again then it wasnt right for you go back armed with printed info on Vagifem a lot of GPs new and old dont seem to understand that you can take it all the time now they seem to want you to come of it after 3/6 montsh
Which is horrific the fannys just getting better and your mind is too and then they say sorry you have to have a break
Then the whole bloody thing starts again so go ask for Vagifem it should work it did for me and loads of other ladies
But sadly sweetie dont look for a cure there is none xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Some ladies it doesnt work and they use another cream over there cant remember the name though?

Sorry, Shell, don't know personally but as I said in my other reply to you, it might be best to start a thread in "New Members" as your question might get missed in an old thread.  ;)

Replens was messy and grainy....not nice for me any way.

Have you considered Vagifem...It has saved a lot of pain and a fair few marriages here. Works really well for me.

IM glad Replens has eased the dryness
But it wont do anything for the vaginal walls to plump them up to help them heal
Its just like using a good lube with a moisturiser in
Plus it will only work when yu put it in where as Vaginal HRT creams or Vagifem keeps you moist down there
It works 24/7 even on a 2x week routine
But what ever makes you feel good and works for you is the way you should go xxx

Hi Suzy,
Thanks for your reply. How long does it last? also how long before the internal soreness goes?

Looks like I'm gonna have to come off the vagifem again, just as I was starting to feel a bit better. Terrible anxiety has returned just as it did the previous times I tried to use it. I'm so gutted....I don't know what to do now. Maybe it just doesn't agree with me for some reason  :'(
