Given how wonderful and special the stage version is...not sure if I want to see the film.

Thoroughly enjoyed the film. It was a mix of emotional, funny and heart stopping.
Glad I saw it and hope it gets the rewards it deserves.

The Stage Show 'puppet' is amazing, have seen him on TV several times.

I bought the book today.....got the last copy in our Waterstones,the assistant said the book had just taken off after the publicity for the film,not surprisingly.

the book was for sale last time I looked for £3.99 in my local supermarket..the S one. I haven't read it. Am wary of the film as don't feel like howling buckets and snorting into tissues right now. We thought of going last weekend but it was sold out. Last film I went to was The Artist, which was so good that I just thought I'd wait before seeing another one.

Wow CLKD - is there a reason for that? What was the film you saw in 1981? We try to go to cinema regularly but it can be expensive. There is a small cinema in edinburgh run by a local family. You sit on sofas and get free Pringles. The manager stands at the door in his tuxedo at the end of the film and thanks you for choosing his cinema. It's so much nicer to go there than to the big chains which are often in shopping centres - yuk! Xxx

The Glasgow Film Theatre (GFT) has a different atmosphere too and shows European films.

I saw WarHorse last Saturday.  Really enjoyed it and liked that there were kind bits to soften the unpleasant and sad bits.  Spielberg could really have exploited and drawn out the emotions much more than he did and I appreciated that he did not.   The story is somewhat predictable and easily told although I thought it was superbly made and the (almost) 2.5 hours flew past.  Could not even hear anyone eating or rustling.  No-one went to the toilet either!  Spielberg is a fantastic director! 

Went home and watched Schindler's List after that!!!   Now that is a movie!

Like the sound of your cinema H&S!  Despite living near the centre of Glasgow for a good few years, never went to the GFT.  Hard to believe.  Nowadays I appreciate smaller specialist cinemas.  We have one up here, The Belmont, but haven't been in it for ages!  It's very run down these days, but it does show some of the lesser known films from time to time.

Yes, our local Picturehouse has a great bar and you can take your hot chocolate or wine in with you. The seats recline too and are mega comfy.  I really enjoy going there. I just don't like the huge multiplexes with old popcorn stuck to the floor, seat etc and people talking throughout the film.
I banned OH from his usual popcorn during The Artist though

Can't wait to see it...looks amazing, but no doubt really sad as well...one of those films, that just really gets you thinking!
