Concerts on pocket money.  Lucky you.  I had to wait until I was working before I could afford to go anywhere.  My mum kept a tight hold on the purse strings and wouldn't allow me any extras like concerts, even though my brother offered to be my chaperone!

My first record was the Beatles "hard days night " I loved the Beatles especially as I come from Liverpool , but I have moved to Scotland now . Been here 7 yrs and love it ,

I was a bit of a wierd mixture in my teens. First I was a mod and my first boyfriend had a scooter. Then I loved Motown but also was a bit of a hippy with long skirts, Afghan coat and loons! Then I went to Uni and loved Cream, Free, Deep Purple etc. (Still loved Motown though and still do)  Sigh... such good times. All about growing up and learning all about life, love and responsibility.

I went to see David Essex in Godspell in London, in about 1973. I thought he was fabulous then, and I still think he is now. He just has "something"!

My first LP was Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon and Garfunkel.

I've got this on my iPhone. My dad use to call them The Lodgers because I always had this album playing 

 

I have seen both Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel live in recent years but not together.  That would be my absolute dream come true, I live in hope!!

Our pocket money was very low so the tickets really were cheap.  My sister and I used to save up and sometimes walk part of the way to the venue to save money.  We really were hard up when we were young coming from a big family and all that.  Please don't think I was spoilt - nothing could be further from the truth.

I got my first Dansette at 10 in 1964
But Dad had bought all the Beatles before that
He loved Tamla Motown too by the time I was 18 it was David Bowies and the rest and id built up a record collection of over 1000 singles yes 1000 I still have most of them and over 300 LPs beside Bobbles beloved son and xmas deccies
Thats all I brought with me when we migrated in the 80s
I still try to get records I have a Bang and OUlfsen set and huge UK Wharfdale speaker I love my MUSIC
So ,much so do you ladies remember when Napster was given 48hrs to close down free music
Me and Bobbles sat there on and off for 2 days and nights we downloaded over 2000 song hehehehehe

My brother used to dance about like them.  He would also pose as Gerry Marsden from Gerry & the Pacemakers with his guitar high across his chest.  Think my brother fancied himself a bit!    I hasten to add he was in his late teens early twenties at the time.  He would do it to amuse me!

First record was Crazy Horses by the Osmonds but went on to be fans of Donny Osmond, David Essex, David Cassidy and The Sweet.  I don't think there was a spare inch on my bedroom wall that wasn't covered in posters.  Oh yes, and Mud, Bay City Rollers and Bryan Ferry - *swoon*

This was the  record I bought myself with my first $5 Singapore dollars pocket money, it felt like a fortune.

I bought so many SP, EP and LP's they would make a fortune on ebay today, but my first husband kept them for himself and would not give them to me, I had them all before I knew him too, one LP I particularly prized was an original "Platters " and another unusual one an  LP of the whole NASA recordings of the first flight and landing on the moon, can you imagine what that would be worth today.

I wasn't into The Beatles and the British groups and never really knew who they were until we returned to England then I was not very impressed.

I liked the lead singer Brian Conley or Conelly was it? Can you remember?
The New Seekers too.Had posters  of these and sweet plus loads of Donny Osmond and a big one of David Cassidy.I remember saving golden wonder crisp packets to get 3 posters one of Donny Osmond,David Cassidy and I think the other one was,a bit random,Steve McQueen which I gave away.
Those were the days!

Great memories!  Wish hubby had held onto his old albums as some of them would have been worth a bit now.  He did sell some many years ago & got a decent price back then, but they would probably have been worth an awful lot more nowadays.  We were so broke at the time though and were thankful for anything we could get!  Fortunately that spell didn't last for long.

My claim to fame is my mum worked with David Essex's mum for a while. My mum was the wages clerk for s company. Think he's mum worked in Admin too.

San I liked the Moody Blues, much to hubby's dismay!    However, my tastes have changed over the years.  Hubby still doesn't appreciate my musical taste but I don't care.
