Is Premarin ok to take?
« on: October 21, 2011, 01:39:19 PM »

Hi, hope your all well.

I went to my GPs this morning and hes changing my HRT tablets from 1mg Zumeron tablet, to 0.625 Premarin. My mother and Sister were on Premarin, and said they felt brilliant, tho on here, alot of ladies have said they wouldnt take it. Are there lots of bad side effects? Surely if i`m changing down to 0.625mg from 1mg, will make my symptoms worse, tho he did say to take 1 Premarin a day for 4 weeks, and if need be then take 2.

Has anyone got anything positive to say about it?  :-\  lol

Best wishes

I think its more to do with the source, personally if I felt well on Premarin I would not hesitate in taking it, I have read that many women feel great on it and take it well into old age.

Hi Caz
If you look in the Green Menu under "HRT Preparations" and "Estrogens", you'll see that 0.625 Premarin is listed as "Medium dose" whereas 1mg Zumeron is listed as "Low dose" so you are actually changing to a stronger HRT. If you find that it doesn't suit you (though it might well do  :) ) you could try a different one from the "Medium dose" list.

Hi pattib

 :welcomemm:

This is an ancient thread from 6 years ago - I suggest you start a new thread in the New Members section with your query as it is unrelated to the thread title - and so that more members can welcome you! Femoston is a good tablet HRT to take although since you are re-starting HRT, at your age (over 60) I would suggest transdermal (patch) HRT would be preferable as associated with lower risk to cardio-vascular health.
