Got all the washing done yesterday - and some gardening!  :o Heading out soon for a day meeting various friends. Meant to rain heavily tomorrow.  :(

Its a gorgous day today warm sunshine with no humidity. I know  I said that I liked Autumn and the cooler weather, but if it stays like this for the next month with cool nights I won't complain :) only problem is that the weather lady said it was a lull between fronts and rain and thunderstorms were on the way.

We are due our first hurricane (Irene) about Friday.  We live near the panhandle of Florida in Alabama right off the coast of Mobile Bay.  Have two huge pine trees behind us - always a worry.  Wind insurance is almost $4000.00 USD!! and 5% deductible for named storms.  We have a small generator (never used) and a diesel car so have to get gas if it looks like it will hit us - hate to store gas.  We have lots of little propane tanks and a one burner camp stove and a battery operated fan for the bunny if we lose power and stored chunks of ice (in milk cartons). ???

Taylor we're watching Hurricane Irene with interest as we head out on Sunday.  Showing as possibly a category 2 at the moment by the time it hits Florida.  Hope you don't sustain any significant damage to your property Taylor.  Do you get hit with many where you are?

18 miles away start getting hit and 30 miles away is Gulf of Mexico and we really got slammed when we lived there - Ivan, Opal, Katrina and on and on - only one biggie hit here years ago.  Get some high winds for sure.

Eeks now showing as a possible category 3 by Friday.  Think we may be in for a bumpy ride on Sunday.  What fun!  Here's us moaning about the UK weather.

Cubagirl, I'm not reading many posts (health stuff) so can you tell me where you are that Irene will affect you?  Sorry I'm going to sound dense here.

Taylor, heading for Orlando on Sunday, friend heading there on Saturday.  However, it does look as though we will miss it as it's predicted to go up the east coast Thursday into Friday.

Cubagirl, If Florida gets hit give me a call and we'll put you up.  Seriously, pm me and I'll give you info.
We have a guest room, queen bed and a wonderful large leather couch.  We also have two Rhodesian Ridgebacks (runts) and a lovely rabbit.  I'm serious.  We are about 7 or 8 hours drive from Orlando.  These storms do weird things at the last minute.  We've been through four hurricanes, but we lived closer to the Florida border than we do now.  We are on the eastern shore of Mobile Bay so you can look on the map.

But no cigars!!!

Aw thanks Taylor!  Doubt you want to be invaded by 6 adults & a monkey of a 3 year old granddaughter though.  But what a lovely offer!!!  Looks like we are going to be fine though as latest predictions show it missing Orlando.  Flight might be a trifle bumpy though.  Practise for the roller coasters!  ;)

Lots of thunder clouds about today, but we missed it. The horse chestnut trees around here seem to be rusting in colour - so early
