I get acid reflux with white wines, beer and prosecco type drinks but I'm fine with red wine. It is less acidic but I drink a lot less now and choose the weaker low volume wines.

Agreed - I always found white wine more acidic than red.  Also don't like white as much, so not much of a problem for me in the scheme of things!

I stopped drinking 3 years ago because I'd had persistent reflux and had to have a gastroscopy. It made a difference and I don't miss it at all but I didn't drink a lot anyway.

Yes, white is great for digestion due to the acidity. I enjoy red but I am allergic as I get a rash on my left arm and leg - very specific! I get the same with cherries although red wine has no cherries (from barrels) left in it, all very odd.

My fav is a Sidecar cocktail (cognac, Cointreau and fresh lemon juice).  8)

I just wanted tonsee on here weather it was just me and my symptoms or its a normal phase to go through and ots pretty clear its not just me! I have definitely heard from women who couldn’t drink as much through peri and early meno but then were later back to how they used to be, so it’s probably stress hormones adding to the burden of the liver. A lot of things do reverse once the volatility calms down.

A nice non alcoholic drink is soda water and lime which you can drink in a champagne glass to make it feel closer to a glass of bubbly!

Hi, like many here, I got a hangover within an hour of drinking wine, beer is better. I've found taking anti histamine at the same time or before bed helps, and makes you drunker faster, which is nice because you don't have to drink as much,I also found high doses of vitamin D helped. Also getting my estrogen up seems to help.
There's a lot of research about vit D atm, and so far the research suggests the UK recommended dose is too low for most who live in dull climates like the UK and work inside all day. The research is suggesting D deficiency is a cause for depression and could be the reason so many get seasonal depression.

Interesting. I wonder if that’s all linked to GABA. I find I only need a little drink to feel tipsy when taking progesterone (which raises GABA) but could drink all night when oestrogen is high and not feel as if I’ve had a drink at all - apart from a hangover the next day!

I’m tempted to try the antihistamine…  ::)
