Changing patch too often - feeling really bad - please advise
« on: November 23, 2025, 10:49:57 PM »

Hi,

I have been on 50 strength patches for 5 months and doing OK. I have a bit of histamine intolerance and estrogen dominance and so was advised to start Slynd and go to  50 strength in July.
About 6 weeks ago I started feeling very low so went back up to 75. Stayed on it for 9 days but then started to get anxiety/sinus inflamed/brain fog that I have been trying to avoid (the reason I'm on HRT) so went back to 50.
Felt better for 4 days then it came back so I put it down to the heating bringing on my symptoms and went back to 75.
I know this is really stupid and I shouldn't have played about with the dosage like this.
The problem now is that I feel worse than ever and am regretting changing from 50 at all. It is my period too at the moment which is rare so obv my hormones are all over the place.
My question is do you think I could go back to 50 with the intention of not changing it again for at least 3 months? I feel like I did when the doctor said I have estrogen dominance.
To clarify - I have been on 50 strength for  5 months. 75 for 9 days. 50 for 4 days and 75 for 4 days!!! In my defence my head is all over the place at the mo!

Many thanks, Sam

Hi Sam
I’m no expert but don’t beat yourself up by what you’ve already done - you can’t change it and I don’t think you’ve done yourself any harm. I’m a great believer in ‘controlling the controllables’ and you can’t control what has already happened so try not to worry about it anymore.
Your body is definitely telling you something though. I do think we become very good at listening to our body through this journey - probably because it is screaming at us most of the time!
My advice would be to reduce back to 50 and sit tight for 3 months. This should give you the bigger picture of what effect it is having. It sounds like your hormones (both natural and HRT) are fluctuating quite a lot which is giving you the rollercoaster ride. I think you might have to buckle up and go for the ride!
