Everol 50 100 progesterone bleeding not settling
« on: June 03, 2025, 06:13:55 AM »

I have been on HRT for over 6 years. I was on sequential then was switched to continuous almost 2 years ago. I was upped to everol 75 then to the 1200 with 2 progesterone at night. I didn't find the progesterone very good, felt swollen and generally not myself but after 5 months the bleeding/spotting settled. I was moved back to everol 50 and 1 progesterone on 7th November last year. I started to bleed at the end of January for 5 days then every 3-4 weeks after this. I was hoping it was settling as it has got lighter (a few days very light spotting then a few days heavier bleed) but it 's just over 2 weeks and it's happened again. I know when it's going to happen as my boobs get sore, I have sweats, headaches and I eat loads. If i go off the start date of November that's over the 6 months but if I go from when I started bleeding I am not up to 5 months yet. It was suggested at my last appointment (in March) that I went up to a 75 patch as I am feeling low at times so I was going to switch after my holiday at the end of June in case the bleeding started again with the change in dose. I have made an appointment but my usual Dr who I have confidence in is not available so not sure what will happen and I really didn't want to bleed while I am away (it's a family holiday that we have planned for a while). I am thinking, rightly or wrongly, that if I am still bleeding a bit on my current doe surely adding more estrogen (even though I will feel better) would not stop the bleeding? Has anyone had a similar experience? Sometimes I think I will just stop it all and see what happens but I am scared as I suffered so much with the anxiety that I had not had before so I don't want to go back there.  Thank you

Just wanted to say I am going round in circles with this also absolutely fed up ! Anxiety was reason for doing hrt in first place and 2 1/2 years in and several variations later I’m still not right! On conti as dropping to one hormone I can’t stick and I’m bleeding monthly periods all scans fine x

I know exactly how you feel. I was never anxious but it came out of nowhere. I was settled on sequential but then my Dr said guidelines say after you have been in that for so long it's better to change to continuous. I was looking forward to feeling ok and not having periods, not the case! I will have to see what hap[pens, didn't want to bled on my holiday but as I never know it may arrive while I am there. It is quite light this time so was hoping but 2 so close together makes me wonder if it ever will. It's so weird as I feel PMT just before which I didn't on sequential. Anyway, good luck to you, hope you can get somewhere as it's not a great feeling. Thank you for your reply :)

Absolutely! It's not a nice thing at all and these things are supposed to help us. I sometimes feel it's just me but when you read things like this forum you realise it's not. Fingers crossed for us

Sometimes micronised progesterone simply isn't strong enough to control bleeding, particularly in perimenopause, and if amenorrhea is an important outcome for you, then you may be better with a bleed free progestin such as the mirena IUS or continuous oral desogestrel 150mcg or slynd.

The latter two are off label for endometrial protection but supported by evidence and increasingly used.

Estrogen should not be guided by bleeding, the dose is based on your desired outcome, be that symptom control, osteoporosis prevention etc

You work out the dose of estrogen that best meets your needs, and then build endometrial protection around that, not the other way around.
