Advice please
« on: May 24, 2025, 05:52:43 PM »

After having a hystoscope in March i phone the gp too follow up the letter from gyn, re following hrt protocol and discussing extra progesterone . I have been on Everol Conti for over 2 years now and have had 2 spates of unscheduled bleeding and 2 hystoscope and biopsies, ( the first letter he gp ignored and i stupidly did not follow up)
The gp advise is to wait and see if i bleed again before adding more progesterone, (as the patch has some )  I explained this is the second time it has happened and if i bleed again i will surely have to be referred back to the urgent possible cancer rule out route of another hystoscope and biopsies
I feel like i am on  a hamster wheel.
I think with the past experience I will bleed again in around 14 months.
What would other people do

Could you ask to try something different,  there are lots of choices and it sometimes takes a while to get the right balance. The biopsies are clear so nothing to worry about it's hormonal, so it's down to the right HRT for you.

I did wonder about this but all my other symptoms are great on the patch and the gp was fairly negative saying if we add extra hormones it will take a min of 3 months to settle and made it sound like flushes and sweats would come back. Yes it is a relief that the biopsy are fine

It could be your own hormones kicking in having a last surge. Even after post meno we occasionly ovalate and cause a bleed and can also ovalate without a bleed, which is why women are sent for biopsies only to get all clear. Now if you have a bleed after a year of no periods you are checked, this used to be two years way back. I had a periods after 15 months and 23 months of no periods, both were actual periods and had clear biopsies so it happens. Even after finally having no periods for a few years I'd still occasionally get the familiar painful stitch in my left side that I always got when ovalating. I did research this and it does happen. It's still wise to get checked though.
