Tibolone and splitting tablet in half
« on: January 17, 2025, 03:08:17 AM »

Hello, I am just new and working from an iPad, which does not seem to be going well, due to lagging issues.  Somehow my question went into replies.  I am attempting to modify here. Here is my question. Thank you!

Hello, I have been trying to search everywhere for an answer to if it is ok to split a Livial tablet in half, as I feel a full tablet is too strong for me. I can not find a direct answer anywhere. I am wondering if anyone has any experiences in cutting a Tibolone/Livial tablet in half and only taking a half dose? I know some tablets are not meant to be cut in half and cause gastric problems if done so, and I am unsure if Livial would be one of these.  The product information does say to not to crush or chew, but does anyone know if this includes splitting in half?

Tibolone comes in 2 strengths.

There are 2.5mg and 1.25mg tablets.

If you have the 1.25mg tablets then yes they can be split with a sharp knife or pill splitter.

The half that you don't take can be wrapped in foil, stored in a dry place and used the following day.

Oh wonderful, thanks for your response, @bombsh3ll.  It’s all very early days for me, and I’m already very sensitive to all sorts of things, so anxious about getting things right.

I had a half tablet on my first day, one day last week, and within 30 mins I had severe diarrhoea which lasted 3-4 hours, and I was worried perhaps I shouldn’t have split the tablet in half.  I haven’t been game to try another one yet, as I feel I was having some sort of reaction that wasn’t right. Your answer is helping me sort all this out! Thank you.
