Follow up appointments following surgical intervention?
« on: January 06, 2025, 01:08:44 PM »

Were any of U offered a follow-up appt with the Consultant after surgery, i.e. hysterectomy?  If so, how many?  Bloke on Jeremy Vine suggesting this morning that all patients are asked whether they would like a follow-up/not.

Are you asking just about hysterectomy or any surgery? I had minor surgery to remove a cyst from my neck a year ago. There was a follow up appt but it lasted 2 minutes. He glanced at my neck and discharged me.

Yes, I've had ENT surgery recently (NHS in England) and have had 2 post-op appointments with the consultant surgeon who carried out the procedure.  All is well so now discharged.

I was not asked if I wanted the appointments, it was just assumed I would.  Obviously I could've declined (as is one's right for any appointment or procedure).
