Thank you both again for your replies.

The pill I was on was Rigevidon. I took it right up until beginning of October but only started having noticeable symptoms around mid June. Before that I’d been fine. If the nurse suggests trying another pill that would mimic the body’s oestrogen and provide that to help with symptoms I’d be open to trying it, I’ll discuss it when I go as they’ve given me a longer 30 min appointment.

If anyone would ask me to describe what I feel like when I have symptoms, I’d say pretty much my body is either itchy, sore or aching in different places at different times. I was at work earlier and my right wrist just started aching for no reason like I’d twisted it. Sometimes my jaw and gums ache, then it can be itchy down below  :o really dry palms of hands even when it’s warm outside. The list goes on. I remember when it all first started and I kept thinking to myself “god, what now! Why can’t I just feel normal now there’s something else” but couldn’t place a finger on why I was feeling so off.

We will get there in the end!

It's the change - does what it says on the tin  ::)

As oestrogen levels drop the body may become dry: inside and out : causing itchiness.  Do read the Vaginal atrophy threads - make notes ;-)

Take a list to your appt as symptoms may be intermittent but need to be discussed to get an over all picture.

Ahh yes I will have a look at that thank you  :) its definitely a rollercoaster what we have to go through isnt it! Even from a young age, starting periods, pregnancy, labour, childbirth then menopause. Give us a break  ;D ;D

A break - we have a holiday thread on the Forum somewhere  ;)  ;D

4 me periods were 'normal' although excruatingaly painful and heavy, menopause was 'stopping periods and a few hot flushes' and not to ask Auntie why she had suddenly gone red from face downwards  :o :(.  How did 'they' manage  :-\ because it wasn't talked about.

LittleClaire, check out Zoely or ask your GP about that if they seem reluctant to try you with HRT. It is a combined pill but the estrogen in it is natural body identical estradiol, the same kind as in HRT. The progestin is synthetic.

This might hopefully see you through another 5 years until they say you can start HRT...

Thank you I will mention if it she is reluctant to start me with HRT. Although when I rang the doctors for an appointment and they asked what it was about (as they do), I said I’ve been having symptoms and want to look at starting on HRT so my appointment has gone down as a “HRT review” with the lady who does them so I am hoping I won’t be instantly turned away. I have even looked online at medical sites where you can order HRT patches and Superdrug will let me order some but it’s so expensive and also not a clue what dose I would need. It’s sad having to do that due to knowing how inexperienced some GPs are in the menopause field and that women have to go to these lengths to get what they need  :-\

HRT review is the place to begin, take that list of worries and if necessary lay it on thick about hot flushes because many still don't think that we can have symptoms unless we are flushing every few moments  ::).  Though mine were cold water feelings running down from shoulders to waist after my evening bath with intense itching for about 30 mins.  ::)

Ahh god the itching! I feel your pain. Mine is mainly groin, down below and backside but after a bath or shower I can scratch and scrape my skin on my legs, stomach, chest etc. I didn’t know if that was a symptom at first or just a reaction to the hot water but I guess it is. I also don’t sweat in the face with flushes it’s more like a cheeks burning up kind of feeling, and having to waft my face with my hands like a fan  ;D I sweat more in the night where my legs will be wet on waking up. Oh the joy

Yep Joys indeed.  4 me the itching was a drop off of oestrogen ....... a good body cream helps, either 'nivea' or the 'vaseline' cream in the yellow bottle soothe the itchy places: currently my ankles and Achilles heel - was he ever a real person ? - scalp and the edges of my ears, DH very kindly applies lots of 'nivea' there because he can see without messing my hair  ;D.

Oh and deep in the ears - not so bad in the last 2 months - nostrils ........

Sounds riveting! I’ve not had it in my ears or nostrils yet but you never know, that may surprise me sometime soon  ::) I’ve been using Aveeno on my legs and near underarms as that helps but nothing really down there apart from deodorant as I think if I sweat it makes the itching worse…

Yes I still use that now! I swear by it. Back in the day I used to use original source mint and tea tree, boy did it tingle  ;D

OUCH!  as we age we need less chemicals around the vulva/vagina area and proper treatment for vaginal atrophy, should we be unlucky enough to suffer.
