Author Topic: Intrarosa (Prasterone) should only be used in 3 monthly courses?????  (Read 362 times)

I’ve really benefited from using Intrarosa but at my recent follow up consultation I was told that Intrarosa (Prasterone) should only be used in 3 monthly courses!  When I asked what I would use in place of this the advice was just vaginal moisturiser. I can’t find any evidence of this ‘three monthly course’ to be able to go back to the NHS gyni to discuss further.  I’m very concerned about going back to the way things were down there during the three-month break.

Has anyone else been told this, or heard this? Or even know of any research supporting this?

I can understand you not wanting to take a break and chance losing the benefit you have gained.

Do you know why you were put on Intrarosa rather than vaginal oestrogen?

I was on vaginal oestrogen before but it wasn’t helping with pain during sex. I no longer have pain during sex since starting the Intrarosa in April this year.

You can absolutely take Intrarosa forever, no need to stop. I have been on it for 10 months and my GP just put it in my repeat prescriptions.

Maybe your GP has confused the 3 months with the time expected before seeing a real benefit, I think that is listed somewhere as 12 weeks due to the clinical trial data?
