skin reaction to Evorel patches
« on: June 04, 2024, 06:36:18 PM »

Hi everyone

I've started to have some skin irritation where I apply the evorel 100 patches. Been on them for 18 months and this has only happened over the past few months.   It's not awful but around the edges is red and itchy.

Does anyone else get this?  Does it mean I'm allergic to the adhesive?  Will they still work properly?

Thank you.

This happened to me pretty much straightaway and got worse and worse until the whole area under the patch got red and raw. My gynae said it was an allergic reaction to the adhesive and not uncommon with Evorel. You may find you are OK with another brand if you want to stay with patches.

Hi, just come across this thread. Hard no trouble with the 50's or the 75's and was fine on the 100's for 2 months and now I get a red eczema type rash. Very strange but I prefer the patches to tablets. Have you tried a different kind or stuck with the everol?

I found the patches itched a lot, and also the surgical adhesive dressing that I had to place over the top to keep them on, that itched too.

It was worse the longer a patch stayed on - so you may find changing them more often helps but this may be unacceptable cost wise.

I only used them for IVF and it was worth it to have my daughter but for me patches are not a viable long term treatment option.

I just wanted to say don't be scared of oral estradiol because the increased risk of blood clots that is often scaremongered about on social media is statistically minuscule and not clinically significant in healthy users who don't smoke and are a normal weight.

I developed an allergic reaction to evorel too but I'm fine with oestrogel and estradot. I would ask for something else, allergies usually get worse not better.

I would either try a different brand of patch or a gel - Oestrogel or Sandrena - it is likely to only get worse

Hi birkdale. Welcome to the forum. I think it says in the leaflet to discontinue use if you develop a skin reaction. I agree with chopsuey that it would be best to try a different product.
