Sex and periods
« on: April 16, 2024, 05:36:46 AM »

Hello wonderful ladies. I have recently started to have sex again after several years of not having sex, although I did continue to masturbate. It seems to have restarted my periods. I had some bleeding a little while ago and had a scan and then a polyp removed but that was several months ago and there was some slight bleeding after the procedure but then nothing. I have not had periods for over seven years so very confused??🫤

Hi Lisa. Do you mean you've started proper periods again or that you are bleeding after intercourse?

Hi Taz, not full on periods but more than just bleeding after intercourse. I bleed for a few days.

Ok. Bleeding which begins just after intercourse and lasts longer than a few hours does need to be investigated. It could be that you have another polyp and intercourse is irritating it but it shouldn't be ignored. It can also be caused by an STD. Have you got a local GUM clinic? They'd check it out for you I'm sure if it's difficult getting a GP appointment.
