Don’t know where to get help
« on: April 09, 2024, 06:47:37 PM »

Hi everyone

I feel I have hit a brick wall.
I am on hrt implants and in a mess.

I cannot speak to anyone at the hospital to get help and advice.

I am in surgical menopause for pmdd.

My estrogen levels need to be in the 700’s to feel well and testosterone 2 or a little bit higher.

My last testosterone implant was lowered to 50mg due to it being above range.

In the meantime my estrogen has plummeted to 541 from 766.

My list of symptoms is endless
Uncontrollable crying
Hot sweats
Night sweats
Dreams and I am now waking with  a pounding heart
Waking at 2 and 5 am
Feeling knocked out in the morning
Still awake at 1am
Scalp itching to the point I had to wash my hair at 1am to get relief
Tension
Anger
Irritable
Deep emotion from the pit of my stomach
No energy, inspiration or motivation
Feeling low
No appetite
Piercing in my ears
Neck pain
Return of headaches
Red itchy eye
Unable to function on a daily basis

Losing hope :'(

I feel floored by it all in mind and body.

This feels WORSE than pmdd

Do you have a menopause clinic near you? Sounds like you need your hrt changing x

Hi Jaypo

The hrt clinic I attend is at the c&w hospital in London. I was diagnosed with pmdd in 2017 by Nick Panay.

I Tried estradot and everol patches but still had fluctuations.

I was also on Testogel

Very few nhs hospitals provide hrt implants. So I have to travel.

I live in West Yorkshire x

Oh dear, you've a way to travel then  :( could it be you were not absorbing? I'm no expert on hrt sadly but I do know many women on here who have to tweak their hrt as it's not a case of one size fits all.
Seems both conditions are hitting you hard, you really must seek help, meno symptoms alone can floor you big time. Could it be that your symptoms are just in fact due to peri? Difficult one as both conditions are down to hormones. Don't let them brush you off, help IS out there. Have you looked at Dr Louise Newson's videos on YouTube?

Surgical menopause can be really tough. The best advice I can give you would be to join the Facebook group called Surgical Menopause UK Support Group for HRT ladies. They have soooo much knowledge and are incredibly helpful, I'm sure they will be able to point you in the right direction x

Hi jenny
This sounds awful to go through.
When is your next appointment with Chelsea and Westminster?
Can you ring them and tell them you are struggling? Or ask your GP to ring on your behalf as an urgent case?

Surgical meno can be so difficult. You need careful monitoring and lots of support with this.

Hope you get somewhere with chelwest soon xx

Hi

Thank you for your replies and help.

Jaypo - I must be absorbing as my level is 541 but not enough to make me feel well. I’m not in peri. I had  everything removed due to pmdd. My own progesterone made me feel suicidal. No I haven’t seen LN videos. I will have a look. Thank you xx

Thank you Gnatty I will look at the support group on Facebook book too xx

Nas

My next appointment isn’t until September. My estrogen levels were 766 so the nurse said that’s when my next appointment would be. Due to how I was feeling early March (which wasn’t as bad as  now)I asked for a blood test at my drs and levels had dropped in 8 weeks to 541 so I dread to think what my E level is now?? Or whether my T has also dropped with ithe implant dose being lowered. What I don’t understand is if the t implant was lowered I would have thought that would have lowered more than the estrogen but it had gone from 2.4 to 2.3 Before Nick Panay retired fron chel west he was happy with my level at 2.3 bu the nurse lowered the dose😫

My sister has sent an urgent email asking them to contact me but in the advice and guidance they don’t reply to emails. You have to go through your gp for them to go on the ers. I have spoken to the gp and he asked the secretary  to contact the hospital but there was no reply. I’ve sent emails to gynae admin as no one answers the phone, but not getting anywhere! Total shambles in my opinion Nas😥 There’s no support from the hospital xx

Oh dear jenny,
I hate to say it, but i was also under ChelWest a couple of years ago and the service and organisation, was nothing short of dire. Poor communication, didn’t respond to emails/ phone messages, the list was endless.

You may have to persevere with CW, as they fitted the implants. If you are not feeling well, something is off balance somewhere. Xx

Hi Nas

I agree it is dire!

Yes this is it there aren’t many nhs hospitals that fit the implants😞

Can I ask are you in surgical menopause and did you have the implants?

Hi Jenny
No, I dont have implants.
I had a TAH in November, but was already post menopausal and on HRT. Due to cancer, I’m not allowed HRT, but experience many of those symptoms you describe.

You really are going to need to push CW and get that help
you desperately need because as you say, there are few hospitals which deal with implants
( as far as i know ) xx

Hi Nas
sorry to hear that. How are you doing ?

The gynae admin at the hospital have said the clinicians respond via ERS with your gp. (Hope they respond quickly)

I have contacted my GP surgery and requested this. The dr who I spoke to about it is on holiday until Fri.

So hopefully 🤞 I will get some response.

Had a nice lavender bath tonight as I’ve had really bad head today and aching neck and shoulders.
