Anyone else as excited as me about hearing that the drospirenone only POP (Slynd) is now available as the progesterone part of hrt? I was at the end of my tether and this has given me so much hope.
A bit about me, progesterone intolerant, had Mirena in for 3 months now, anxiety through the roof and bv. Evorel conti turned me into an oil slick, utrogestan I couldn't sleep on. I've got my 3 month catch up with GP on weds and really hoping she agrees to removing the mirena and starting on Slynd. I'll be insisting on it in fact 🙂 it's the only progestin I can tolerate, was on Lucette for contraception for 7 years before starting hrt last year.

My anxiety has been eased by 'valium' as necessary during the 1990s followed by 'propranolol' at night.  I've tried Bachs flower remedy mouth spray with success too.

Thanks CLKD. Yeah I've got it all written down in preparation. It's 100% the Mirena that's causing my anxiety, It's never been an issue for me before I got it put in. I'll try that Bachs flower remedy, it might help me while I wait for the removal 👍

At least with the Mirena it can be removed when necessary.

Had my call with the GP and getting the Mirena removed next Friday thankfully. Unbelievably she can't prescribe the Slynd, it has to be done through a menopause specialist so she's referred me. I'm not waiting for the appointment though, who knows how long that will be, so I've ordered some online and I'll be starting them as soon as the Mirena is removed. I just can't believe they can't prescribe it through the GP even though it's there as an option.

Oh. Where did you find it online to order?

I was interested in trying slynd. Bug couldn't locate it.

Up here in Scotland it cannot be prescribed apparently.

Sorry CrispycChick, I didn't get a notification that you'd replied! I got it from a website called The Lowdown, came quite quickly but was expensive at £44 for 3 months supply.

I was really pleased too! Had been on Yasmin for years and this was the only prog I could tolerate. After 6 months of feeling like putting myself in the river, I went on a 3 month prog ‘holiday’, as advised to by Newson Health. I was just at the end of that spell and about to try Utro again when the great news came! My own GP (in Scotland) doesn’t know about anything past Everol patches and Newson Health themselves don’t have it on their prescribing list yet. I ended up going to a local private clinic who happily prescribed. I also ordered some off the Lowdown as a back up, but just wanted a doc to tell me it was ok! Started it exactly 8 days ago along with a 50mcg patch and was hit by a bad bout of cold/flu at the same time. Today, I woke up feeling a good bit better physically….but mentally, well I baked a cake, I sipped tea in the sunshine, I called friends to arrange to go out, the clouds are parting, thank god for Slynd!!

PennyD you've pretty much described my journey so far 😂 2 days (and counting) til coil is out and starting on the Slynd. I have to wait 16 weeks for an NHS meno specialist! Luckily I've got enough estrogen patches to last me that long. So self medicating with what I believe I need basically. Hopefully by the time I see them I'll be able to tell them I feel amazing and they'll prescribe it for me.

CrispyChick, I've not tried Slynd yet but starting on Friday when I get the Mirena out. I was on Lucette before which is the same progestin as Slynd and I felt great on that, just didn't have enough estrogen! 😃

CrispyChick, sorry I can't send messages for some reason. Just to say my 2nd time round on cerazette gave me anxiety when it was fine the first time round! Not sure why that happens. I'm also coming down very slowly on the patches from 100 to 50. If I make too big a jump I go crazy so just cutting a little off each new patch 💗

All the best Redrocks, I’m sure it will be absolutely great for you. I think most of us are self medicating and are better informed about this than most of the doctors we are coming into contact with!
