Hysteroscopy and Vagifem
«

I had a hysteroscopy and Mirena fitted yesterday. Does anyone know when I should use Vagifem again. I feel slightly concerned about it as I am feeling very uncomfortable, but don't want to leave it too long.

changes can be scary, even when we want them

Hi
When I had the same, 12mths ago, I was told that I could continue to use Vagifem as normal. I was advised to stop my Oestrogel until I had results of biopsy but vagifem was fine.
Get it up there Shropshirelass!

When I had my hysteroscopies I was told not to insert anything into the vagina in order to prevent infection.

Oh dear didn't read these messages until after I had dome it. Fingers crossed it'll be ok. I'll leave it a few days and use some estriol cream externally

Do you have a contact for the gynae/oncology team who did the hysteroscopy? If you do it's worth a quick call and ask them for your own peace of mind.
I think the no insertion refers to tampons but it would be good for you to get advice from your local team as it's clearly yet another thing that varies from place to place!

She told me nothing is to be inserted for a week, including tampons, sex, etc, so it wasn't just tampons.
I agree with suziemc, ring up, but as it seems to vary between clinics it appears that neither answer is right or wrong.

Thanks all. I appreciate that we all seem to get different responses. I don't think the gynaes generally know about HRT. I have little confidence in them in this area. As I said, I did insert one vagifem so I just have to hope that's not going to make things worse. Ill leave anymore for the rest of the week and way too sore to contemplate it at the moment anyway. I don't want to leave it longer due to atrophy and adding yet more discomfort
