How to control post menopausal irritation after bleeds?
« on: March 25, 2024, 10:44:20 AM »

I'm three years post menopausal and have monthly bleeds due to using HRT (tibolone).

I use a menstrual cup because I've always bled too heavily/suddenly for tampons to work.

There is no drying tampon effect, but I still get irritation from taking it out and putting it back in.

My bleed ended two or three days ago but I'm still so irritated down there I can't wear my normal jeans or have sex.

I've changed washing detergents and toilet rolls in an effort to find a cause, still irritated.

I've used vagifem/vagirux/generic pessaries for the last two years.

Has anyone here had this problem and found a solution?

I shortened the above to cut out the waffle.

Four days on and the irritation is gone, yay.

I'd still like to know a way to help it in the first place each month.

Hi have you tried YES vaginal moisturiser? I’ve just started using it and it seems to be helping alongside the Blissel gel that I use .

I hadn't thought of using a moisturiser, because it's not dry, but perhaps it would help anyway?

This has only become a problem post meno, I didn't have irritation a few years ago, so indeed, maybe it's a dryness problem, thanks Dotty!

Even if U don't feel dry it may be useful to apply a moisturiser to ease symptoms.  what's to lose?
