Hi Discogirl

I know someone who was on citalopram 20mg and she slept even better than before. She said she slept more deeply so less likely to wake up due to noises, etc. it was very helpful to her for anxiety too. I wish you well honey hope this works for you.

Katherine x

Hi Katherine,

How are you doing?

That's so encouraging, thank you so much x

Hi discogirl,

I’m ok thanks, I’ve been through some major upheavals including a break up recently but at least I’ve settled on the right type and dose of HRT so I’ll be ok.

In terms of anti depressants it can be a case of trial and error until you find one that suits you. I have heard good things about citalopram, sertraline and Prozac although I’ve never tried any of them myself x

Hi Katherine

I'm sorry about all the upheaval you've had. I'm glad you're on the right type and dose of hrt at last. What type and dose did you settle on by the way? xxx

Hi Discogirl

I take 3 pumps of estrogel, two in the morning and one in the evening, 100mg utrogestan every night before bed and half a pea sized blob of testogel every morning. X

You're very welcome. It is so damned hard. My Citalopram sat in the box for weeks before I got the confidence to take it because I was so scared of side effects. Same with hrt.

I was on citilopram for a number of years following the death of my husband 20mg.  It takes a few weeks to get used to but made a massive difference and I had good experience with it

Hi DDug

About how long would you say it took you to settle on it?

I think I've researched a bit too much about it to be honest, terrified it'll mess up my sleep and cause my tinnitus to worsen x

I read recently that tinnitus can worse as oestrogen levels drop - when I find the article I'll be more specific.

Thanks Discogirl. I hope your new HRT regime suits you better and that the citalopram works for you. I haven't heard a bad word said about it from friends experiences, sending hugs x

I haven't read any of the replies as I struggle if I hear negative things...

All I wanted to say is that citalopram has literally saved my life.

I'm on 15 mg and 3 months in. Started on 10mg, then to 15mg, 3 weeks ago.

All the best x
