Hayfever & Antihistamines
« on: March 15, 2024, 09:12:46 AM »

I have tried 3 different hayfever tablets (cetirizine hydrochloride 10mg, lotatadine 10mg & fexofenafine hydrochloride 120mg),  but none work.

Are there any others?

I just took one tablet once, but on speaking to the lady at the chemist she said I need to take a tablet for 3 days for it to get into my system to know whether it works for me. And therefore I have to take them everyday, not just on days where I want/need to take them.

I thought you just took them when as and when reqiired, and they worked straight away.

Can anyone confirm if this is correct, before I make an appointment with my gp.

Thanks

What does it say on the box?  :-\

R U taking them for hayfever or to aid sleep?   R U affected at any particular time of year, 4 me it's when the poplar pollen emerges, in about 4 weeks time.  Then I feel my chest tighten a bit and my nose itches even more.  I have allergic rhinitis anyway so use 'beconase' nasal spray when symptoms irritate.

Why not try taking them for 5-7 days to see if symptoms ease?

I have always found they need a few days to get into my system.

I've found they take a few days to be fully effective.

Thanks everyone, I'll try them for a few days and see if it helps.
