Pressure on bowels and bladder could it be related to uterus
« on: March 08, 2024, 11:45:32 AM »

I am probably over thinking this but for the last few weeks I have been waking up really early in the morning with a very uncomfortable almost painful feeling of pressure in my bladder and bowels. This does go away after going to the toilet but it's such a strong feeling I wondered if it could be connected to my gynae issues (thickened lining and fluid in the uterus)

I've still got nearly 5 weeks to go for my "urgent" hysteroscopy and biopsy and my anxiety levels seem to be increasing by the day. Additionally, my severe headaches (not a new symptom) have ranked up in intensity and and frequency. I feel like I'm falling apart at the seems. The rational part of me thinks that maybe all these symptoms could be stress related or at least aggravated by it.

Just feeling sorry for myself.

Hello - I'm so sorry that you are having a tough time.  I had the same thing and it turned out to be diverticulitis.  I thought that I had a UTI because some of the symptoms were similar like the bladder pressure.  You may want to mention this to your GP.  I went on antibiotics and it cleared it all up.  Good luck!

shropshirelass - R U able to get a cancellation appt., another 5 weeks wait is terrible!  If U can, ring the dept and explain that you can be ready if someone doesn't turn up or no longer needs the appt..  Working on the principal that if you don't ask .  Waiting doesn't help how we feel does it!

Do U have a diagnosis or 'prolapse'?

Thanks for the replies. I'm waiting to check out the gynae issues before exploring separate bowel issues. Just can't cope with another investigation at present. I just wondered if it could be related.

CLKD I have been ringing the hospital 2/3 times a week to ask about cancellations, but no luck so far. Today they said they were hoping to put an extra session on before the end of March and they would consider including me, but no specific details. I'll ring again Monday. Fingers crossed but I'm not holding out much hope.

I don't have prolapse, was examined a couple of years ago by a woman's health physio. She seemed to think my bladder issues were exacerbated by bowel issues. I have generally been much better since following her advice re bowel emptying etc. Use vagifem and estriol

I have a similar issue. I’m waiting for a pelvic scan but in the meantime I’m noticing that any level of constipation makes my bladder and pelvis feel loaded and like it’s dragging. I have been checked for prolapse and it’s not that. It’s giving me urinary frequency too. I don’t know how it all works (or doesn’t) but trapped wind and any stool not expelled has a big effect on my bladder and uterus.

Hi, I had similar issues whilst waiting for my hysteroscopy/biopsy. I just felt like every morning I needed to go and empty my bowels ,which was a completely different time for me( think we all have our habits dont we) this caused me added anxiety on top of the awful waiting I was going through (that you already know about).
It was only the last couple of weeks I've noticed everything has gone back to normal...didn't even realise.
Think it was probably down to stress but at the time I did think it could have been the added pressure on my bowels/bladder from the thickened lining as they are all in close proximity aren't they...I'll never know now.
Please don't worry...I know it's easy for me to say now that mine is all fine but believe me I've been where you are and know EXACTLY what you're going through.
Keep pestering for that earlier appointment.

Certainly if I need to open my bowels especially when travelling = sitting for a long while, my bladder feels irritated  :-\
