I'm newbie here and just so fed up I have to rant
« on: January 13, 2024, 07:17:53 PM »

So, 5 years perimenopausal, and on HRT for 4 years, started after I went overnight from a calm collected good sleeper to a total insomniac, waking up terrified every 2 hours.
The HRT kept a lid on things until 12 months ago when I went on a roller coaster of non-stop weird symptoms out of nowhere:
achy, burning hands, strange toe thing that's now gone, burning sensation on forearms, itchy skin on a new level of itch, outbreak of skin tags, daily nosebleeds that stopped as mysteriously as they started, random ear infections, really painful feet (struggling to walk at one point), painful elbows, and chronic anxiety that settles into health anxiety.
The issues seem to rotate around the body, one stops and another body part kicks off.
GPs have no answers other than "it's tough getting older".
I know enough now to suspect that so much of this is hormonal.
My question to all is....does this ever end?

Your GPs are negligent.   :welcomemm:

Which HRT were you prescribed?

Your symptoms may be due to a drop in oestrogen levels which can cause muscles to become lax = aches and pains.  The body may become dry: inside and out; skin, scalp, deep in the ears, nostrils, vagina - it's The Change, does what it says on the tin.

We have a thread somewhere about what we diagnose ourselves with each day  ::).  Some find that keeping a mood/food/symptom diary of use to chart progress.

You could ask your surgery for a referral to a dedicated menopause clinic.  When did U last see a GP/Nurse Practitioner for up2date advice?

Thanks CLKD, Lenzetto and daily progesterone.
I went to specialist clinic for HRT because I was so desperate with the insomnia.
They advised me to drop the oestrogen dose in November due to unscheduled bleeding.
I'm hyper mobile, so it's doing something mental to my foot joints

That's a difficult condition without lack of oestrogen on top!

R U due for a referral at the clinic?  Pop the product names into the search box and read the threads.  Make notes ;-).

That's a good idea, this forum seems to be the only hub of knowledge!
Apparently bones can move around in feet due to the ligaments tendons muscles changing?
I have plantar fasciitis in both feet and weird foot pains that kick off.
It makes me so angry that no-one medical seems to understand all the weird symptoms below the hot flush stuff.
GPs all refuse to even acknowledge a hormonal link, "probably arthritis, see how it goes".
The meno clinic doesn't really get into the strange itchy, jointy stuff, they just (very expensively) up or reduce the HRT dose!
I've become such a Meno Warrior  >:(

What progesterone are you on? You might be better to increase the oestrogen again and either increase progesterone too or change to a more effective one. Did you have a scan to rule out any other cause such as fibroid?

I’m only 54 but walk like a 90 year old, tricky at the school gates  >:(
I’ve always been on utrogestan, take one daily. They did try to up it to two a day but it made me feel really weird and I dropped back down. I never used to like the progesterone days when I was previously on a cyclical regime.
They said to scan if the bleeding continued but thank the lord it hasn’t, have enough on my plate

I believe that there are padded insoles to put into heels to ease fasciatitis, might be worth while asking in a large Pharmacist or looking on line.  I seem to remember that some are gel-filled to ease pressure.

Injections  :o are said to help too ........  :-\

Hi I can relate to your symptoms…I had plantar fasciitis, burning sensation in fore arms, itchy skin, achy legs. I used to wake up with this weird sensation of burning in my forearms.  It was horrible. The right type and dose of hrt got rid of all the random symptoms.

Thanks Dotty, that’s interesting. I’ve always felt that my body doesn’t really like utrogestan, and I think….all the weird body stuff started after switching from gel to Lenzetto

Yes and it seems to really weaken as you get through the bottle so that the final sprays are a bit of a non event. Shame tho as it’s easier than the gel, I was 4 pumps of gel when I switched and that becomes a palaver

Hey forum
I suffered from planter fasciitis for 20 yrs almost had to give up my job it was so bad All the usual stuff didn’t work and then I was given the chance to have an electric shock therapy.. can’t remember the exact name.. 6 sessions later and other than the odd twinge I haven’t looked back AMAZING Still cautious about wearing flip flops in the summer and still do a few exercises when I remember
Strangely I also get real fidgets in my arms hands and also restless legs but at least I can get up and walk it off now or pop a few painkillers See if you can get a referral Good Luck

Kathryn was the shock therapy done through the NHS? and was it a physio that carried it out for you?
