Hi, thank you for accepting me onto the forum.
I’m 41 and had total hysterectomy almost 4 years ago after being diagnosed with endometrial cancer. I was 37 at the time, so my ovaries were left behind in the hope I could preserve natural hormones for a little bit longer, however I ended up having those removed 8 months ago too when I developed early warning symptoms of recurrence.
Since then I’ve been in surgical menopause, and on a very low dose of evorel patches (25mcg).
I felt like it was sufficient for a while, but over the last 3 months I’ve been on an awful downward spiral of mood swings, anxiety and hot flushes/night sweats/joint pain. I feel like I’m going insane at times and it’s scary.
My GP has referred me to the menopause clinic but that’s a 6-8month wait. In the meantime, I’ve had HRT increased to 50mcg and started 100mg Utrogestan..
Has anyone else been in a similar position? How did this regime work for you?
Anything else I can do myself to help manage my symptoms? I feel so lonely and isolated, my friends are supportive but none of them really understand my situation as they’re still all young and not anywhere near menopause yet.
