Hi is the VA under control?

MayB go to a good hairdresser who can advise on care of menopausal hair.  What products do U currently use?  Also speak to your GP about being referred to an appropriate specialist.

Let us know how you get on.

GPs have to pay for referrals.  Legally we are entitled to a 2nd opinion.

MayB see a Nurse Practitioner first who could advise and push for an appt. if required.

Regarding hair loss, Plantur 39 shampoo and conditioner is good and is designed for menopausal hair loss. Available in Boots etc. As a bonus, if you have brown or dark hair, it has a ‘brown’ variant which covers the odd grey hair. I don’t know if the normal non brown one covers grey hair in other hair colours though. I have found my hair loss has decreased significantly since using it.

I am wondering if the oestrogen cream is doing this with the hair loss.  Don't panic, when I first started Vagifem my hair started falling out, but it settled down and stopped doing it after a few months.  It never resulted in total hair loss.

I don't know if this is the case for you but as you've only been on that cream for 5 weeks I am wondering if there's a link.

Hang in there, I hope you will soon settle to something that works for you.  What does it say about side effects for that cream?  It might be that you could lower the amount used and see if there's a change to the hair loss, but it's possible if it's that it will settle down.

I wish you well.  :)

Hi celinecelica!

I'm dealing with female pattern hair loss triggered by hormonal imbalance.  It's important to speak to your doctor and get a referral to a dermatologist to determine the cause of your hair loss and provide effective treatment options.  Your primary physician will likely get the ball rolling with blood tests to look at possible causes, such as thyroid, ferritin, etc.  Your derm will likely order additional blood tests.  List of blood tests for women with hair loss:

There are so many potential causes for hair loss and so many different types of hair loss.  A diagnosis is critical.  There's no lack of snake oil out there.  Don't waste your time and money.  Hair loss is so distressing.
