Is a period every two weeks a peri menopause thing?
« on: November 23, 2022, 09:54:14 PM »

Hi.
I’m new to this wonderful site so apologies if I’m asking something silly.
I am 45 (just) and have started having odd periods.  All my life Ive been regular with no issues with my cycle. My last one went on a couple of days longer and stopped started and stopped. Two weeks later I’ve started another period. I have asked to see a nurse but…. Well I can’t see that appointment happening any time soon…. But am wondering is this a symptom of the start of peri menopause? Just searching for some peace of mind pending seeing the nurse…. Doctor Google isn’t helpful! Thank you all.

Morning.  Firstly - welcome.  2ndly, nowt is silly or stupid on here  ;)

My periods waxed and waned for several years - I knew it was The Change.  Sometimes they would be regular for a few months, followed by blocks of not bleeding at all  8).  We are supposed to count 12 months free of periods B4 we can even think that we are into menopause - literally the last monthly bleed. However.  Mother Nature being as she is, sometimes throw in the curved ball so we need to count from day 1.  Again.   >:(

My periods were always heavy and very very painful.  10 days on, 10 off.  At the end of each period I would miss a day and a half before having a day of brown blood. Within normal limits for me so I wasn't bothered.

Browse round.  Ask away.  Do read the 'bladder issues' thread and anything about vaginal atrophy ;-).

Hi Julesricha45. Yes it's perfectly normal for peri. Sometimes two periods a month and sometimes no period for months. The level of bleeding can also change month to month too. Some periods last for a few weeks and the next one might be a few days. I'm not sure if you've read the info under the Menu tab. This link from there has details of peri-menopause https://www.menopausematters.co.uk/menopause.php

As CLKD says no question is stupid on here. Most of us have felt the same as it slowly dawns on us that things are changing. Ask anything you want to and I'm sure there will be someone around who totally understands.
