;D  We think that the child is within normal limits: however, those around him  ::)
A bit slow actually.  I don't know that I agree with a child being lumbered with a 'disability' either.  Must try to remember to see the next Episode.

I think that for a soft drama it's good but has to be taken with a pinch of salt. Easy watching. It's amazing how many parents with children who are on the Autistic Spectrum are really loathe to face it which can lead to even more isolation. I'll watch this week's espisode with interest.

I enjoyed it but would question how any child that exhibited such behaviour would get to 5 without intervention. My son is on spectrum and far better at communication but was picked up within weeks of starting school as needing input from the SEN team.

Because some children are able to hide problems, also Schools are often reluctant to draw attention to a possible problem because they will have to put measures into place!

Watching Michael Ball and Chris Hollins ……. B4 turning over to Guy on his bike  ;)

Watched the last episode of Thirteen, boy was that young actress good in my opinion, the was she communicated her trauma and bewilderment just by facial expressions.

And the resolution of The Night Manager - phew, I was worn out.

I find this a very upsetting comment CLKD. Can I ask when you were last working in a classroom situation?

I have never worked in a classroom but I have seen this happen Taz2.

A lady I knew when my children were at school, and I keep in touch with her to this day, had bad problems with her eldest son who for a number of years  clearly needed a statement of special needs but the school was reluctant to get involved.  Instead they just kept telephoning her to come and take him home because he was disrupting the class.  She fought and fought for her child and it made her ill.  It was nearly three years before he got the intervention he needed and missed out on any sort of schooling during that time.  It was appalling.

My daughter is a primary school teacher and has seen children falling through the net because they were struggling but not obviously so.

You don't have to work in a school to be aware of things.

I agree BJ: I have a friend who is Head of a private school for 50 autistic spectrum boys from age 9-18.  I have another friend with a child who showed classic problems but the school refused to give a Statement because they didn't want it reported on their Ofsted and didn't want to fund help in the classroom.  Eventually, after several long, hard years, with support from the NAS a private statement was acquired but the Education Authority refused to accept it so the family had to jump through yet more hoops and fire-rings: education psychologists who cancelled appts. at the last moment on several occasions, psychologists with no knowledge of the autistic spectrum, all 'chosen' by the EA   â€¦â€¦â€¦ it took 5-6 years B4 the EA offered support by which time their son was due to leave School.

Parents should not have to fight for their children.

What was the question?
