Showing my age here, but in 1963 I saw both the Beatles and the Rolling Stones on the same bill at the Albert Hall. I had seen the Beatles once before, but not the Stones. My friend and I immediately preferred the Stones, who made the Mop Tops look so tame  ;D

I think my brother went to this. I was only 9 at the time. Wasn't it called Pop Prom or something similar? He talked about it for years!

I can't remember what it was called now, not after nearly 60 years!! I must have been 13.

My OH went to the Isle of Wight Pop Festival and saw Jimi Hendrix. Him and his mate hitched from the East Midlands and their  last lift was on a dustbin lorry!  He loves telling that tale. 🤣🤣

Wow Kid Creole and the Coconuts? I saw them eons ago and really enjoyed their show.  I also saw David Bowie in Toronto during the Serious Moonlight tour.  I've also seen Genesis twice, Duran Duran, Hall and Oates, Robert Palmer, Platnium Blonde and I am still kicking myself for not getting tickets for Depeche Mode before the pandemic. ::)

Coronation 2023 : Festivals and music concerts
« Reply #22 on: May 05, 2023, 08:06:08 PM »

I've watched the run-in for tomorrow's massive Event, including getting together choirs from all over the UK.  They rehearsed in Windsor Great Hall [I think].   ::)

FabULUS!  Including Rose getting everyone to sign - taking inspiration from the quiet gap in her duet with Giovanni in Strictly.  Hopefully the weather will be fine on Sunday ...... hoopefully every1 will be in Good Voice.

Saw the oldies, Tavares, Stylistics , Four Tops, and loads more.
Saw Simlpy Red twice,
Saw Bowie too.

Seeing Madonna in October.
And Peter Kay next year. ( I know he's not a musician) 🤭

I thoroughly enjoyed the Coronation Concert. Was a real variety show - something for everyone.
Poor Camilla reminded me of Theresa May when jigging along to Take That  :parti:
"Never Forget" is always a winner

It’s a great song Jill.
Lionel’s good for 73, I have to say. And the orchestra did a cracking job backing the singers 👍.
I wonder why Elton John knocked the gig back 🤔

Because it was about the Royals and public rather than himself?

Such organisation to get all that together on time!  The orchestra did well  8) all that rehearsal time!!! Though I couldn't hear all the words, mayB it was pointed at the 20,000 audience?  How did Katy Perry carry that dress without 'falling out'  :o ?
