Is my heart broken?
« on: January 04, 2022, 05:53:20 PM »

Hello everyone! I am a newbie and delighted to have found a group of excellent ladies who are happy to share and listen to everyone’s experience of this weird and (not so!) wonderful trip! I started on low level HRT (combined cream) about six years ago for bad palpitations. To be fair it made them a bit better, and I increased the dose a couple of years ago. Last Oct my Dr upped my dose even more so I now take separate Utrogestan (oral progesterone) and Sandrena (gel oestrogen). Then later that month after a large meal BANG! I woke up in the night with a pounding racing heart which resulted in a panic attack. Since then I have had about seven other episodes - mostly when I’ve eaten sugar or heavy carbs - with the latest resulting in me been taken to A&E when my heart soared to 180 last week. My GP is currently sorting some heart tests and I’m am absolutely terrified. But I have a feeling that this is all related to the change in HRT. I was so terrified that I came off it after my hospital admission last Thursday, and I am feeling better bit by bit. But I am so scared that I am going to have a heart attack and am CONSTANTLY checking my heart beat and feeling afraid to do ANYTHING. I should mention that I’m a pretty fit 54yr old non-smoker or drinker  that runs and goes to the gym fairly regularly- so I’m not an ‘obvious’ candidate for a heart attack. I have an appointment with my hormone doctor on Thursday and I’m really keen to hear if anyone else has had a similar experience please? Thank you everybody!  :-*

Hi! B4 you go to the appt. keep a diary: symptoms, food, moods ..... to discuss.  MayB decide which symptom you would like to ease first?

:welcomemm:  Eating little and often might suit you better?  Also, some find that they can no longer tolerate alcohol  ::)

If you jog etc., you are unlikely to suffer a heart attack.  Logically you probably know that, so if you don't puff and pant or need to cut your distance shorter, you are probably being affected by hormone upheaval.

Logic goes out the window once anxiety starts  >:(

Also, don't exercise too close to eating ?  Keeping hydrated is important too.

Hi CLKD - I sing badly! I’ve heard that this helps with breathing during anxiety so I’m going to try it.
Panic is v bad and so need to do something soon! Thanks for your concern  :-*

When I worked in a boarding kennels for 3 weeks every morning I had vicious panic attacks.  I would get to the dogs and sing, loudly!  The anxiety wore off during the day ......

"Swing Low, Sweet Chariot"
"Mary Ellen Carter"
"I Love to Go, aWandering"
