Hi.  My Doctor has prescribed me Tibolone, but I'm not sure i want to take it!!  I have been on Estelle duet 2mg for 4 months now, but, feel it is not working for me?  Still having night sweats, hot flushes are not too bad.  My boobs however, constantly hurt, I am experiencing, Burning mouth syndrome a lot & my sleep is terrible.  On mentioning this to Doctor, she said, we will try something totally different.  However I am concerned about taking Tibolone, as when I read up about it, it seems to be for women who have not had a period for over a year....I still have periods???  Really unsure what to do....any help, greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Perhaps contact your GP with your concerns, she will advise.

I have come across other ladies who get on very well on Tiblone but I don’t know where they were at in their M journey.

Hi Lawgirl - You're absolutely right, it's for post meno or surgical meno, might be worth asking your GP for something else. The progestin in Elleste Duet is pretty brutal, lots of women have trouble with it, although I motored along quite well on it as my first hrt, but I did have insomnia. I've also used tibolone, twice briefly. I quite liked it but it seemed to be converting to a more progestognenic form for me and I was foggy on it. I would've quite happily continued on it as other than the fogginess and tiredness, it was an easy hrt method, but it's not for peri.

Hi.  I thought I wasn't going mad!!  I really dont want to take it.  I don't feel it is right for me.  I will have a look at what else is available.  I have a blood test tomorrow, so will speak to someone at the surgery, then.  Unfortunately, I, like many people have had to research HRT for ourselves. Last Friday was my first appt with Doctor, I saw the nurse, when I was prescribed Estelle duet.  Thank you for your help.

No problem. One of the easiest methods for a lot of peri women is the mirena coil and then your choice of oestrogen. It provides birth control as well as the prog element of hrt and you can use a high dose of oestrogen with it as it seems to control bleeding really well once it's settled in. Might be worth a chat about that as, if you can tolerate the mirena, it's a have it fitted, and forget it for a few years kind of progestin.

Oh....really don't fancy that.  Thank you for the advice though.  I am happy to take either a tablet or try patches??  I'm Really not sure what to do, I im totally honest.

Transdermal is safer, I would ask for a patch or gel. Have a look at the Treatments tab to see what is available.
