Keepers at Longleat Safari Park are celebrating the success of their pancake tortoise breeding programme, with five newborns.

Syrup, Banana, Peanut, Piccolo and Prairie have been born to Poppadom and Jua in the past year. Newborns are about as big as a 50p coin.

Pancake tortoises, named for their flat shells, are critically-endangered, and native to Kenya and Tanzania.

Hungry wild rabbits searching for food during heavy snow have befriended several pet horses at their stables in Aberdeenshire.

Owner Pauline Young described the scenes in Glenbuchat, near Strathdon, in recent weeks as "amazing".

As well as helping themselves to hay, the rabbits even get licked by their new friends.

Mrs Young said: "It's so strange. It's like the horses have a sense the rabbits are starving so are sharing.

The rabbits began stealing food from tubs in the yard, before eventually coming in to the stables.

Strange horses  :o ........... they aren't meat eaters as a rule  :-\

Rabbits can kick.  Hard.  They also jump which would probably make a horse think twice !

Thai navy sailors have rescued four ginger cats that were abandoned on a burning ship in the Andaman Sea.

The human crew had already been evacuated, but the navy soon discovered a few forgotten members when they were sent to check the site for oil spills.

A sailor swam out to the capsized boat, before putting the cats on his back to take them to safety.

Reportedly, the felines suffered no injuries and are healthy.

They are now being cared for by their rescuers at their command post, said Reuters news agency.

A few days ago a pickup truck was stolen in a town near me, there was a 4-month-old Great Pyranees pup in the back seat!  There was a flood of dog missing notices on social media within minutes. After many shares, and after 36 hours the dog was returned to the owners, anonymously, but the truck is still missing.  Nobody is asking about the truck, all are relieved the dog was returned safely.

That's such a relief!  Hopefully Pup was OK? bet owners will find it hard to sleep for a while  :-\.

It's about making pets too hot to handle via social media.

Pup was thankfully unharmed, left tied to the porch railing by somebody.  I couldn't imagine what the owners went through and still are going through.
