Happy C-19 News: weddings, baby arrivals and other happy tales
« on: January 13, 2021, 08:19:38 PM »

Two grans accompanied their grand daughter at her wedding:

Gillian Holloway, 80, and 90-year-old Mary Kennedy travelled to London for the wedding in October.

It was the first time they'd got out their homes to do anything "properly social" since last March.

"If they're going to come, we wanted to make it as special as we could for them," Megan said.

The bridesmaids didn't wear matching dresses, but they did have bouquets and walked down the aisle together.

A mother who gave birth just 10 days after discovering she was pregnant thought she had put on weight in lockdown.

Samantha Hicks, from Portishead, North Somerset, attributed her baby Julia's kicking to sickness having been ill.

Her pregnancy was missed even when she was in Southmead Hospital in Bristol with Covid-19 in November .

"It never occurred to me I was pregnant as I had taken two previous tests which both came back negative," she said.

UK snow: Polar bears enjoy Yorkshire's wintry weather

Heavy snow in Yorkshire has not made life easy for everyone.

But there are four South Yorkshire residents who don't mind plunging temperatures and the problems they can bring.

Polar bears Nobby, Hamish, Luka and Sisu have been making the most of the chilly conditions at their home near Doncaster.

The four live at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park, which is temporarily closed due to lockdown restrictions.

A family pet in Turkey has certainly been one man's best friend, after waiting six days for her owner to emerge from hospital.

Boncuk, who belongs to Cemal Senturk, sat outside the doors of the facility in Trabzon, as he received treatment for a brain embolism.
On his release, Mr Senturk was met with an enthusiastic canine greeting.

This is so cheerful  :-*.  A bit like Greyfriars Bobby but with a happier ending  8)

About 30 neighbours helped to dig an ambulance out of the snow when it became stuck on their street.

Photos were shared on social media of Ninian Street residents in Treherbert, Rhondda Cynon Taf, using snow shovels, sledges and quad bikes on Saturday to help paramedics get to a care home.

Kelly Evans, 38, who lives on the street, said it was typical of her "lovely neighbours" to help out.

In streets I think people pull together.  It's cheaper than the gym, digging out vehicles !

A video of six-month-old Fu Bao clinging on to her zookeeper's leg has gone viral with more than four million views on YouTube.

Worth looking at but be prepared for the AAHHH moments  ;D

Surfing duck: Pet becomes local celebrity at Australian beach

When Australian woman Kate Miller decided to get a pet duck last year, she had no idea he'd become a local beach celebrity too.

Affectionately named Duck, he follows her into the water each day and delights onlookers by bodysurfing.

BBC Cambridgeshire

A woman has been amusing her neighbours and passing motorists by decorating her trees with faces and costumes.

Mary Maclean's two large trees were being trimmed last year in St Neots, Cambridgeshire, when she realised leaving the tops uncut made it look as if they had hair.

For Halloween they wore witches' hats, and Santa hats for Christmas.

At the weekend, the trees were given heart-shaped eyes and wore face masks decorated with hearts.
