Closing UK Borders in all directions?
« on: January 10, 2021, 02:54:32 PM »

How does this work?

I know a family who have flown in from the US - they have completed 5 days of isolation.  They have UK Passports.  No testing their side or when they arrived in the UK  :-\.  They expect to be out and about, seeing the sights  >:(.  That'll spread the virus then?

The UK has been TOO SLOW on stopping un-essential people from visiting  :bang:

I know.  It infuriates me!  3 from the US, 1 works in England but the others ........... so that puts all those in the same flat at risk: all those that are going to work each week, potentially asymptomatic but picking it and spreading it?  Which bit of stay at home don't they understand!

Four teenagers were stopped by police after travelling from England to climb 918m Tryfan in the dark.

The trainer-clad lockdown breakers came from Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, to conquer the Snowdonia peak.

North Wales Police special constabulary said on Twitter they "continue to come across motorists travelling in breach of Covid regs."

Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue warned people have died on the mountain.

"We would not recommend anyone, whether they are doing it legally or illegally, going up Tryfan in trainers in full winter conditions," spokesman Chris Lloyd said.

I can't find anything about being restricted to an hour for exercise this time? I can find the part that says we are only allowed out once a day for exercise though. It gets very confusing!

There isn't any time line - once a day could be all day  ::) but 1 is asked not to travel to exercise and to stick within the area in which 1 lives.

It's just you said you'd get fined if you go out for more than an hour?  :-\

I'm not making much sense am I  :-\.   It seems 2 depend on the Police Authority Taz.  Some are being OTT about fining people,  because they haven't read the new Laws about how long we can go out    ......... whereas where we live in the countryside we don't see Police  ::), more likely in the towns.

Those 2 ladies that were harassed in Derbyshire for example ........... the Force hadn't bothered to get up2date!

My niece lives and works in London, she has been home visiting her family in Toronto since mid-December.  She is due to fly back to the UK today.  At the airport, they have started voluntary covid testing for all passengers and I'm sure she will have another swab before she gets on the plane, only if the flight restriction has been lifted of course.

I've just had a look at the Gov.uk site and the rules for testing arrivals don't come into force until later this week. Travelling from the UK to USA though means you need a test now.
