Very painful ovulation
« on: November 29, 2020, 06:17:51 PM »

Has anyone else suffered from very painful ovulation? The last 2 months I've been in agony, had to take several painkillers, unable to bend down, walking painful and had to undo my jeans as painful.
Waiting to see/hear from gynae as also have severe pms and have offered me a mirena or prostap injection.
I'm 45, still have regular (although have got earlier) periods which are painful and heavy / clotts. Also some bleeding mid cycle/pink discharge
Any advice please? Have spoken to my gp who just sent a letter to gynae to try and get me to see her as I keep getting telephone consultations  :-\

'ovulation' on it's own brings up a few threads ;-)

I have this, but I've always had it.  I also used to have very heavy bleeding and clots, although that's fading out now.  But as it's a new symptom, you're wise to get it checked straight away, just in case.

Hi, did you have any treatment for it? It's definitely getting worse, I know there must be something wrong as it really shouldn't have you in that much pain should it? Mood swings are getting much worse too, I'm either full of rage/irritable or in floods of tears. I'm so fed up with it

Have you looked up painful ovulation on the NHS website?

Hi, yes I've googled it several times 😳 I thought at first it was because id taken too much evening primrose oil which had caused the bleeding too. So I stopped taking that but I'm still having pain. Any kind of bending movement hurts, even just sitting and bending a little.

I've been getting this. I think it's an ovarian cyst...perhaps.

I was in so much pain for says last week that I ended up at out of hours gp.

I'm 44. So similar. I always get ovulation pain, which can be quite bad, but this lasted 5 days avd was extreme on the 5th day. I've been on pill trials for the last year or so, so this is since stopping.

I'm a bit bewildered. Cant face another month like it.

Hi, yes the pain is awful, I was trying to cook dinner and couldn't muster up the strength to put a blooming chicken in the oven, ridiculous!!

I had a scan and trans vag scan in early March before lockdown because of bleeding but they all came back normal. But it has got a lot worse since then. Gp won't give me any combined pills or mini pill due to bad reactions, severe pmt...
At a loss now. Had 2 x c section previously so wonder if it's to do with scars? Just throbs now, worse than period pain  :-\

On the NHS site scar tissue is one of the causes of painful ovary. Also could it be endometriosis? This doesn't show up on a scan

Hi Taz, yes I read that, I wonder how they diagnose those things though does anyone know? Not had any bloods done for ages either. Swelled up too, still sitting with my jeans undone 😳
Feel like I want it all taken away it's that bad

Thanks Sparkle, yes I'm taking pain killers, still hurting me today. Waiting to hear from my gynae on Wednesday. Did you have any treatment for yours? They are offering me a mirena or prostap injection for pmt, I haven't spoken to her about the pain but when I do I'll ask for another scan.

Thank you for replying everyone

I think that ovulation rather than the more common week before period pain and pmt is worse and under reported. I take prozac intermittently through the month along with 2 squirts of Oestrogel and Utrogestan 12 times a month - this after many many many trials and changes of doses really really helps me ...I can't tell you how much prozac has helped me with the PMT and Ovulation stress

I’m going to say you have ovarian cyst, I had them at age 25, I would wake up like I was just stabbed.
I told my doctor she did nothing, then I had mid cycle bleeding for three days, I saw my doctor again.
She agreed this time something was wrong and I was sent for a ultrasound.

I had 4 cyst on my ovaries two were larger then a tennis ball. Had to wait three months for a operation, but was called up after a month. I knew at that point something was wrong as they sent me for a blood test before I left the hospital.  On the day of my operation as ask what’s wrong. My blood cell count was in the 100 which meant something was wrong if it was in the 1000 it meant cancer. It was found one of them has attached itself and I got a huge scar across my stomach to show for it. They also found endometriosis.

At age 43 I got the same stabbing pains again, but my cyst on my ovaries weren’t that big. They left the it up to me what I wanted to do, I chose the keyhole operation. But they found endometriosis and stopped the operation. A year later at the city hospital (where the Endometriosis specialist were) I went under again but they decided to give me a hysterectomy due to all my problems, still got my ovaries but went into menopause 4 months later?

So in my opinion ovarian cyst, the mid cycle bleeding makes me think something more wrong then the normal little cyst you can get (I still do😢) but if you’re menopausal and your period are all over the
place it could just be that.
