Alternative to hung over feeling
« on: November 07, 2020, 01:26:10 PM »

Does anyone know if there's an alternative to progestin. I dread the days I have to take them as I feel so rough. Hot, tired, bloated, grumpy.  Then the 2 weeks without them I feel good.

Took me a while to figure that they were the cause of my rough feeling.  I don't drink but imagine if I was hung over this is how it would feel.

I am having regular-ish periods still. Would it be better if I took 1 for longer rather than 2 for 12 days, I take them before sleeping. I also take 1 and a bit pumps of gel every day.

Any advice or anyone tried an alternative would love to hear.  As I feel so yukky taking these.

Thanks
P.S
What a beautiful sunny day 🌻

Try a different type of progestin. It isn't unusual to feel bad on one and be OK on a different type. As you're still peri you should be on a sequi regime (unless you have a coil which which will prevent bleeding in most women).

Sorry I don't quite understand, I have the copper coil and and am still having periods although waining some what.

Is the gel and progestin a sequi regime ?as I'm not quite sure what that means.

What are on now? I assumed utrogeston from your first post? But you mention a coil in your second post. Utrogeston can be used sequentially (200mg for 12 days) or continuously (100mg every day). Gel every day for either regime.
Utrogestan uses a different progestin than, for example, evorel. I'm fine on the evorel one but get fatigue on utrogeston.

Do you use utrogeston and a coil? Is the coil mirena or something else? If you use both it might be that you have too much. As you're on a low dose of gel (is it oestrogel?) you will probably OK with 100mg x 12 days utrogeston but you should do this with medical agreement/supervision.

If you look at Treatments from the menu you can see the options for progesterone.

Sheila99 the copper coil doesn’t have hormones in it, it is purely for contraception x

Thank you Sheila
I am using gel one and a bit pumps each day. I have copper coil for contraception and use 200 progesterone for the 12 days.
It's the progesterone part that's awful and makes me feel so rough and exhausted.  I'm guessing from your post there are alternatives.

Will look at the menu as you suggested.
