My doctor has prescribed antidepressants for my symptoms, fortunately I'm not suffering flushes. Are antidepressants a normal course of treatment he's also gave me vaginal cream

Morning.

It depends on what you went to see your GP about.  ADs are not the first line if a lady complains of peri-menopause symptoms so maybe keep a mood/food/symptom diary to chart progress.  You don't have to take them immediately - mayB see if there is a pattern to your feelings, make a note of your last monthly period and work from there.

Do read the threads on bladder issues and vaginal atrophy.  Which cream has he prescribed?  We talk about most things on here  ::) even menopause ;-).

R U depressed or anxious?

If you're suffering from peri/meno symptoms antidepressants are definitely not appropriate, you should have been offered hrt. Not everyone gets hot flushes but many GPs (including mine) can only recognise meno if you have flushes and irregular periods. Can you tell us a bit about yourself? Age, periods, symptoms...
Of course if you're depressed and not menopausal ADs may be appropriate.
