Vaginal discomfort & aches
« on: October 07, 2020, 01:29:17 PM »

Hi ladies, does anyone experience bouts of feeling heavy feeling down below accompanied with general aches & pains, mostly in hips, legs & back, & even sore dull looking eyes & feeling miserable? (post menopause)It lasts a few days & then goes away. I feel like I have a huge ball between my legs.

Do you have a prolapse?  Can you feel a 'bump' inside the vagina?  Is it 'cyclical' in anyway?

As oestrogen levels drop the muscles may become lax = aches and pains  ::).

Thanks CLKD, I can feel something bump-like there. I don’t know if I have a prolapse but it does feel like something could have slipped downwards. It is fairly cyclical although it was occurring more often before. I haven’t had it for a while until this week.

Get a large mirror, get comfy on the bed and have a look-C ;-)

My vaginal wall feels lumpy inside - is there a protrusion so that you can't see into the vagina?

Hello!  maybe you have a prolapse I don't know much about it - I had a smear last week and if I had one I'm guessing shed have seen haha but anyway I was going to say I have a lot of what your saying , achy hip , back(top of bum) down one leg and feel totally fed up tired etc and god I look bloody awful! I think Ive aged 10 years since having my ovaries removed. Mine is only one side tho.

Hi Kelly-Louise, I would have thought the nurse would have spotted a prolapse during your smear. Your leg pain sounds like sciatica.

Made a triage telephone appointment with the GP for Monday. I do think it’s Probably a prolapse. Thanks for your help CLKD.

Have you tried any local HRT such as Vagifem? I got a dull ache in my left hip and groin which is much better now.

No I haven’t heard of that before Katejo but thank you. Will see what the GP says on Monday.

Do a search on this site for vaginal atrophy. Have you ever had problems with recurrent UTI/cystitis  symptoms? There are many many discussions of it on this forum.

Thanks Katejo. That’s really helpful. I did have cystitis twice during my menopause. Having now read about vaginal atrophy, that was really useful. Thanks.
