No Libido & Androfeme
« on: July 18, 2020, 12:15:21 PM »

Hi - I've just listened to The Good, the Band and the downright Sweaty Podcast where they were talking about being prescribed Testosterone (Androfeme) and how it isn't available in UK yet.   Others have said that they got it on a private prescription.   Does anyone have any experience of this?
Very low libido and energy  :'(

Androfeme is available in the UK, but only on private prescription. There are testosterone gels available on the NHS and these can be prescribed (off license) for women with low libido. The gels are formulated for men, so obviously women use them at a much lower dose.

Thanks JP! At the risk of sounding stupid how do you  get a private prescription?

No such thing as a stupid question here! A private prescription would be issued by a private doctor. So in this case, you would be going to a private menopause specialist. Private specialists can write to your NHS GP with their recommendations as to what medication you should have, and your GP can then issue NHS prescriptions (always assuming they are willing to go along with the advice). Unfortunately Androfeme is not available on the NHS (yet), but you could get one of the gels.
