External burn
« on: July 09, 2020, 09:39:38 AM »

Have been using vagifem for about 8 months along with Ovestin or estriol. Had approx 3/4 months of absolutely no symptoms but did not stop vagifem. All of a sudden it all came back only worse. Vagifem every night sometimes 2 and cream outside for 6 weeks now. It seems to be getting worse. Anything I put on outside stings like mad and throbs. Only just started hrt last this week. Anyone else have external problems. I'm 60 had full hysterectomy at 57. Had to ring in sick from work this week it's so bad. Gp not much help. I have gynae/meno specialist appointment in July. In the meantime I am really struggling. Any help please

Denise T...you actually may want to cut BACK on the vagifem.  Like you, I was a daily user and tho Vagifem did indeed help, after 8 mos. still discomfort and stinging.  I decided to do alternate nights and it has made quite a difference.  You could be having issues with the fillers in vagifem.  I think that was what was causing my stinging.  Have you tried Intrarosa?  I can't remember if you were one of the ladies giving it a test run?  Several users prefer it to Vagifem.   You may be one of the ladies who cannot tolerate vagifem and may need to try something more suitable.  You may also want to get checked for lichen.  I can relate Denise and hope u get it sorted soon.  I know you have had such problems with VA.

I have had a similar experience - I have a persistent sore bit internally and it was recommended I increase vagifem to 5 x week. Having increased to 5, I started to get external discomfort (which I had never had before), soreness and ****ly itching (not thrush).  I have now cut down again to alternate days for Vagifem and so far seem to be feeling better again. Might just be a coincidence but I think it was that that helped. Might be worth a try...

I will cut down the vagifem and see if that helps. Don't know what interosa is - I will read up about it. I have taken a thrush tablet to see if that helps. Have also been considering the Gum Clinic about LS. Gp said looks ok but not much faith in her.

I would definately get LS ruled out.  I know there are a number of the ladies who were misdiagnosed.  It's such a tough war to find what works.  My personal belief is finding a good GP is 90% of the battle.  Keep us posted.

I would never use a 'thrush' remedy without diagnosis.  Canestan burned so badly I had to spend a couple of hours in a cool bath  :-\

How is the acidity of your urine?  R U drinking plenty?

Drinking plenty. I have taken an oral thrush treatment not putting anything else on my skin at the moment. Will look at the situation with GUM clinic tomorrow. Sitting with legs open and getting lots of air so all is calm at the moment. As soon as I start to walk it's agony and unfortunately I have a walk around type job for 7 hours a day. Feel a bit anxious in case it's LS. Thankyou Ladies for replying
