I'm always astounded at how all the crows chase the kites,we have 4 kites here, the soar very low,I love watching them.couldnt they,if they wanted get the better of a crow, just because of their size and talons

They don't though.  It's because other birds see them as a danger to their eggs/young that they chase them away.  Evolution should have explained that kites/buzzards are ground feeders; worms etc.; whereas they ought to look out for magpies and jays who will raid nests  ::)

They are quite patient and play along for a while but will then do a quick movement stretching out their legs with talons extended to warn them off. Interesting to watch.

Sometimes the rooks/crows etc try to steal food from the Kites and Buzzards but I've not seen that myself. I love watching them behind the tractor when it's ploughing time. Such a mix of buzzards, kites, rooks, crows, and gulls!

Two hedgehogs.  Caught on camera two nights ago.  Arguing over food  ;D - one was pushing the other away, stretching out back legs - when it tried to get under the gap in the fence it was given a helping shove  ;D

I seem to remember being told that the birds of prey don't attack the birds that are mobbing them because they are concerned about getting injured, I can't remember who told me or if it's correct but it's what I've believed for years  :o

I have some collard doves that visit daily, I love their call  ;D I also have two robins in the garden that are not fighting, Spring and love must be in the air  ::)

Ooohhh noooo, there was a little bird fluttering at our window this morning, like it was trying to stay up there, then a bit later I went outside as I could hear loud upset tweeting, only to find my little dog trotting about with the bird in her mouth, she did drop it when told,so I scooped it up and it was a little wagtail 😢 so I placed it over the fence where there's plenty coverage for it,went back later and I couldn't see it or hear it.Hope I did the right thing?not sure what was wrong with it in first place ☹️

At this time of year wagtails are drawn to their own reflection. Hopefully it will have been ok. If you do have a bird that's shocked place it in a small box and put it somewhere dark and quiet for at least half an hour to give it time to recover. You could also place the box on or next to a covered hot water bottle as shock can make their core temperature drop drastically. This also works well for birds who are concussed after flying into windows. It can take up to an hour for them to fully recover.

Several lady birds around plus false bees.
