My sister had a chick taken by a buzzard many++ years ago, in front of her. She was so shocked that she rang me immediately, in those years we rarely spoke to each other  ::)

I went running out to their pen and it just sat there on top of fence looking at me,my poor little chook, she had tried to run to her coop for cover and it got her right by the door of it,I was heartbroken,if I'd a gun I would have shot it there and then.the other hens after that day were forever looking up to the sky, hence my ever understanding husband covered the entire area with mesh, happy hens, happy me

We are getting lots of fox activity at the moment. A dog fox goes up and down our road, barking at night. I even heard it at 8 o'clock this morning.

I suppose it must be mating season but I don't know much about foxes, yet.

For those of us that are UK bird lovers, worth remembering that it's the RSPB big garden birdwatch next weekend (26-28 Jan).
A really enjoyable and relaxing way to spend an hour with a cup of tea counting the birds for the RSPB.

Full details on the RSPB website  :)

Vixens scream when the dog fox pulls away  ;)

I don't do the Bird Watch any more as I didn't understand the statistics when they were returned to me  ::).  I count most days - this morning, 11 goldfinches at the front and 5 in the back.  Robin keeps looking through the window for live meal worms  :D

That's what it must be hasty,it took them a while when we very first put them up and as we're here roughly every two weeks, there was always enough to keep them going but as we weren't here for over a month from December they've gone ☹️I won't give up though
Sfunny,my husband says I'm very persistent 😄

That reminds me - years++ ago DH and I walked through Newborough Woods on Anglesey.  There wasn't a cheep anywhere, really creepy.  We ended up running from the woods, never been back ....... I've never felt such silence in natural surroundings  :-\.

Haha, also reminds me when my day and I went running, always ran through the forest, all you could hear were the birds, almost deafening, then suddenly they all stopped,it was so creepy, ran a bit faster, thinking they knew something I didn't 😆
