Thats fantastic and so heartwarming. That crow made a good job of looking after the kitten - it looked in such good condition. I'm glad there was no sad ending on the clip. :)

I shut the chooks and quails up early this evening, it was starting to drizzle - now it's blowing hard  >:(!

What WIND!  It's gusting and blustery, I've put the 4 chickens back into their run and anchored the greenhouse door shut so that the 2 quails don't wing their way Northwards - pots are blowing round the patio and it is really noisy!

Thats wonderful CLKD. I love mine - have upwards of twenty at the minute but I have been feeding niger in one feeder and sunflower hearts in another for around 10 years so they have gradually increased.

the silly feeder though has only 2 perches on and those are at the bottom, I think I'll buy another one and get hubby to put holes further up ...........

Thanks, I've seen those in the Wiggly Wigglers catalogue and at our local store but they are pricey  ;)

Yep but as with  most things you get what you pay for! I find them to be the best ones around to be honest. The birds seem to perch well on them and there is not so much droppage.

Sparrows have learnt to perch on my niger seed feeders  >:( They make a right mess flinging it everywhere. Mind you, it's funny watching them trying to stay on the perches while feeding from the small holes  ;D

Hi Ariadne - A Niger Feeder should have slits not holes. The slits only allow the beaks of Goldfinches or Siskins in as they are too narrow for any other bird. So if there are "holes" they are not for niger. Hope this helps.  :) My sparrows love the sunflower hearts so are in constant battle with the goldfinches.

Taz, sorry, just my terminology. They ARE slits and I bought them as proper niger seed feeders. I reckon the sparrows have enlarged the slits the little devils. ::)
