Oh, cute  ;D Taz!

6 long-tailed tits on the feeders an hour ago - mostly babies!  Yaaaay - at last!  Did you send them up here?  The fat robin baby was at the bird bath earlier.  Just stood on the rim bobbing indignantly.  Didn't go in.  Must be male  ;D

Wow CLKD - you held one?!  A friend sent me a photo of a dragonfly he'd seen at home in the W country a few days ago - it was unlike any we've seen here - had blue & green stripes on the abdomen.   :)

We have held several this Summer.  They need to dry their wings and if they are too deep in the grass round the ponds, they won't be able to get enough sunshine to fly.  They grip hard on the finger, flutter the wings then suddenly: gone  :o.  That's nearly 30 so far ...........

If anxiety allows I'll be off to take the effluvia to the Dragon Group at Bird Fair next weekend.

I love the long tailed tits. No babies here though. There's a flock of around 8-10 who fly through twice a day. They descend into the buddleia and forsythia and go through the garden like a whirlwind.

They are probably my second favourite garden bird Taz - after the wren  ;)  They are so cute - especially through binoculars when you can see the pink-white-black markings & how fluffy they are.  So acrobatic too & gregarious.  They are so entertaining on the feeders - they always bring a friend or 2!

What kinds of bats would you get here in Wiltshire'there are the small ones but there was a huge one which was on the roof of our conservatory,Don't know if there was something wrong with it or what but it did fly off again

Bats.  For years we had pipesstrelles in the eves from April onwards: they would be here for a while then disappear. Apparently the Mums hang up the babies on the wood work then fly out at night to feed.  We would sit out twice a year to count them out, I was never awake at dawn to count them back  ;D.  One night we had over 200 - I used to send the results to our local bat man.

Now the larger one could be a Daubentons or a long-eared ........ maybe contact the Wiltshire bat people and see if they will come out with a listening device to your garden, different pitches = different breeds.  The babies will climb up walls if they land on the ground.

They won't hit you due to sonar ;-).  Stand still at dusk, you may be able to hear them.  They love moths to eat  :D

I've got a bat detector. A Christmas present from one of my son's. It's great listening to their different sounds.
