 ;D

It's one of the few threads in the chat bit of the forum I look at if there have been new posts when I've been away from the forum to read about what birds and insects and plants members have been seeing so I couldnt work out what was going on and kept having to scroll back!!!

I've seen our buzzards 'standing' still in the air but not seem them hovering with their wings quivering fast like a kestrel or humming bird does.

The RSPB web-site is not monitored, they are not responsible for the comments put there.

Maybe take some video of the buzzard Hasty and send it to Autumn/Spring Watch Team, they can then come and have a look-see - you might become famous.

We had buzzards in mid-Wales when we lived on the snow line in the 1980s.  We were there when the red kites were re-introduced.  Most birds of prey are lazy.  I flew Harris Hawks for a while, they are so lazy that they hunt in packs  ;D.  No loyalty, only to what is on the glove.

I found a dragon fly larvae this afternoon - hopefully it won't eat *all* the tadpoles  :-\ - they are ferocious, larvae, not the tadpoles.

Sent a message to Chris Packham's management team  - got a message back that they don't answer queries about hawks but to send via Twitter what ever that is  >:(.  Won't.  Can't.  Will have to grab him or one of the other 'experts' at Bird Fair and ply with questions  ;D

Today I stood about 2 feet from a heron...we regarded each other and I found it amazing to take in every detail.
That's the thing with nature isn't it? Simple things...sitting on a cliff overlooking the sea..a lazy caterpillar ambles by...a gannet dives at sea..a pod of dolphins make their appearance..all a joy.
And yet just to see the antics of the birds arriving in the garden, the blackbird awakening me in the morning..life would be very poor without these wonderful creatures.
I once went to Gozo off Malta..I would never return..not one bird did I see, no birdsong..they trap the migrating birds most cruelly...you don't know what you've got till it's gone.

Yep Malta does not have a good reputation for looking after migrating birds!  Do you go to the Bird Fair at Rutland Water?  Have a look-see at their web-site.

There are few trees on Malta = not many birds.

I'm feeding robins: 2 adults and a baby.  One of the adults refuses to fly away unless I feed 3 meal worms  ::). I found a very small moth on the clematis earlier ......... really really tiny.  I was taught to stand, listen and watch  ;)

We haven't seen a large hornet on the ponds yet this year.  Several wasps.  Tadpoles are growing.  Damsel fly larvae present.  Another fish has a wound on her back  :-\.  Robin is at mh feet, searching for meal worms  ::) >pauses to throw a handful in his direction<

Air is buzzing gently with insects.  Neighbours however are throwing bottles into a bin, slamming the shed doors, clapping hands trying ti stop the dog barking  :-\
