Yep.  A hose in their direction can help.  Or a  :scottie:

This morning the birds are singing their socks off but I don't recognise the song, one may be a thrush  :).  Long-tailed tits are being seen off by the blue-tits so I need to find another feeder with nuts for them  ::) - not that I spoil my birds .........  :whist:

I give them a hard stare  >:(

You have to stare them out - it is cat language.  When you are winning, then you add a bit of hissing and move towards them.  If necessary you can then move on to water/chasing/etc but you only need to do it once or twice.  Then they Know that it is my territory  ;)  Then I just need to give them the look if they are thinking about coming in.

Still, you can't do anything when you are not there.  I know this one now cuts through neighbouring gardens rather than mine, so I am winning.

(If you glance at them and then look away, it is 'come hither' in cat terms and they will sit on your knee, if they are that way inclined.  This is why they sit on the knees of people who do not like cats  ;D )

I noticed while out running at lunchtime that the black-headed gulls are starting to develop their black heads - spring is coming  :)

Oh, don't know that I've noticed much about gulls.  Do they lose complete colour ?

Birds are singing here.  Hopefully a thrush?  :)

Our cats would sit on the arm of the chair and tap the knitting needles that Mum was using  ;D

CLKD - black-headed gull lose their black 'hood' in winter. Their winter plumage has a black spot just behind the eye - otherwise their head are white.  But I saw a few yesterday showing definite signs of the black hood returning - it's nice to see these early signs of spring.

We have four chunky bull finches in the garden almost every day, I can now say without much doubt our flowering plum tree will not have any flowers again this year  ;D

If it's a choice of blossom or bull finches, the finches win every time  ::)

You are so lucky. Is it two pairs?

Yes two pairs, even though I see them most days I still stop and watch them eating the shoots on the tree  ;D

No - what was the programme?

It might have been a male thrush. They hate each other in my garden too but they don't fight as badly as the Robins and Blackcaps who can't stand each other!

If you look at last's evenings TV, I think it was on BBC4 .........

I will be keeping an eye on the thrush v blackbird ........... robins are standing up to others, in the 1990s when we had snow for several weeks, we had a total of 7 in the garden at the same time, no fisticuffs: too busy feeding!

 :thankyou:

That's it.  Not a lot of death but plenty of interest.

2-day we had 2 robins feeding close together. No fluffing of feathers ........ feeders are well occupied today.
