Fire crews tackling a moorland blaze saved the life of an orphaned deer kid by reviving it with oxygen.

Firefighters had been tackling the blaze in a peat bog on Hatfield Moors, near Doncaster in South Yorkshire, for more than two days.

They found the tiny roe deer kid curled in shrubs as they tackled the blaze. The RSPCA said their actions had undoubtedly saved the deer's life.

The animal is recovering at a wildlife centre in Cheshire.

Thousands of Lego-builders have been taking advantage of lockdown and making use of their spare time to create stop-motion movies and models of real-life constructions.

The Danish toy has been the subject of more internet searches during lockdown than in the same months in previous years, while in March the search term "Lego challenge" reached a "record high", according to Google Trends.

A man was surprised to discover robins nesting in his cars which had been used less frequently during the lockdown.

Charlie Talmadge, of Reepham, Norfolk, said he first became aware of a nest behind the grill of his Volvo when two robins were staring at him "intently".

He said unknowingly he had been to the shops with the chicks in tow, but they were unharmed and eventually fledged.

Mr Talmadge, 60, has since discovered a second nest in the wheel arch of his wife's car.  "I couldn't believe it happened the first time but to do both of the cars is quite unusual," he said.

A woman's beloved ring which was lost when she was swept away in floods has been found three months later.

Frankie Greenwood was in her car in the aftermath of February's storms when floodwater burst from a field on to the road in Tenbury Wells, Worcestershire.

She managed to escape, but the ring came loose and was carried away, and Ms Greenwood thought she had lost it forever.

A detectorist found the 16th birthday present in mud and has returned it.

Ms Greenwood was not harmed when water slammed into her car but her ring - a birthday present with an engraved message from her mother - had not been seen since it came off her finger.

As he celebrates his 80th birthday, Sir Tom Jones has said he will keep singing "as long as there's breath in my body".

The Welsh legend, who was born on 7 June 1940, said he did not mind growing old because "the memories are tremendous".

And he said lockdown reminded him of his own two-year isolation with tuberculosis from the age of 12.
