Allergies
« on: April 16, 2020, 02:37:38 PM »

Hi has anyone developed allergies since the menopause, In the past 2 days I've developed hay fever I think it might be to tree pollen, my eyes have swelled up on the eyelids and underneath, I thought I had it a few years back but not as bad as this x

Yep.  Don't know why though.

Dad developed late-onset asthma at age 65, ? hormones.

Also it's hot and dry quite early this year so pollen is high.

I have always suffered mildly from hayfever connected to rape seed pollen.

Hayfever ramped up during peri menopause and to my absolute horror I started to suffer from ****ly heat which as a sun lover was devastating but I have managed with trail and error to get it under control thank goodness .

I developed latex allergy suddenly at 21 and ended up in A&E quite a lot in the early days until I learned what I can and cannot touch / eat (cross allergens have been hard to learn)

Since meno I have also gained allergy induced asthma and it gets quite bad, I use a preventer twice a day but need my reliever quite a bit too.  I also now since meno need 2 x epipens on me constantly and I've been carted off to hospital 3 times  in the last 12 months by ambulance due to anaphylaxis.  At the moment I'm suffering bad sinus problems due to the Rape growing by our house

I'm fed up of allergies ! X

I have had hay fever for the past few years (peri and now menopause) , didn't realise what it was that at first just thought it was bad headaches, but recently also get more tell tell signs, sore eyes and throat and nasal congestion and headache. It was bad over the bank holiday, depends on the pollen levels.

I feel sorry for children with allergies

Does he also suffer allergies to banana/avocados etc ? (Exotic fruits) I'm highly allergic to those too x

Not bananas, but Kiwi's and also strawberries. He also gets a severe reaction to stinging nettles. Where we would normally get a few raised bumps, his whole, hand/leg will swell.
The first reaction he ever had was when we took him to the coast and tried on a pair of those little jelly shoes, so that he could walk on the pebbles.

Wow, so although the same latex allergy, different cross allergens.  I can't have bananas, passion fruit, avocados, kiwi , guava etc but fine with berries and citric fruits

Can't be near balloons either x

They assumed my first reaction was fish S is eaten a tuna sandwich.  That didn't concern me as I'm not a lover of fish, turns out it was the rubber gloves I used to wash up x
