New here, early menopause
« on: January 04, 2020, 03:24:27 PM »

Hello
I am new here and so pleased to have found these forums! So much information! I am 39 and have been on HRT since June. Started on evoral patches with the ustrogen tablet each night (have been period free for well over a year ) then changed to 4 pumps of estrogel and the tablet... now on Estradot 100mg and one pump of oestrogel. For the past 3 months I have also been on 0.5ml of Androfemme testosterone.

I go to the Newson Health clinic after going back and forth to my doctors for years and refused hrt.

Since starting the HRT my life has changed massively for the better, most of the awful symptoms have gone apart from a bit of atrophy down there but hopefully this will get better.

Just wondered if anyone else has really sore breasts on the estradot? Since being on it my breasts feel like they used to before my period! Nothing too bad and I can handle it and perhaps it will even out once I have been on it for a while.

Many thanks in advance and in the meantime I will be very busy looking at all the info on here... I don't really have anyone to talk to about it because most of my friends are still not even sure what the menopause is....

Hi

It sounds like you are on track with it all. I had breast pains when increasing the gel in increments (to 3.5) and still get it before my period would have been due (hysterectomy last year retaining ovaries).

I too go to Dr Newson who is amazing (after a couple of years of shite doctors and multiple horrid symptoms), you are in very safe hands.

I use estrogel and Androfemme.

I've recently started a Vagifem and Ovestin regime for VA which is really helping so I would encourage you to think about doing the same. I had some minor soreness and internal twinges so I think starting it sooner rather than later is a good idea.

I used to be a wash and go girl so the constant gel, cream, applicator regime is a shock to the system but I'm getting used to it now 6 months on.

I wish you well with it all x

Hi Bobidy many thanks for your reply. The one ‘upside' if you were to call it that (excuse the pun) is the painful weightier breasts are more perky if that makes sense ? They used to be scraps after feeding each child for two years each.

Will def look into the treatment for the atrophy.. I was examined and she said mr bladder is pushing a bit but I should try physio and the things you can wear inside to help strengthen it all.

Having a coil put in next week so I won't have to take the tablet I almost forget to take every night  (hello ustrogen) but I have quite enjoyed the sedative effects of taking it!

I agree at first the cream and gel application is annoying but you do get used to it x

Sounds good, yes I liked the bigger boobs (as did husband) but they have settled down again now.

I don't have kids so don't have any effects from that downstairs but my previous fibroid meant I was always going to the loo, no more yey!

I was quite dry before my hysterectomy but hrt made it better for a while, then it started to go dry again with some internal pains. The combination of pessary and cream seem to work well (still very early days). I also use Yes moisturiser as recommended on here which is good, they also do a lubricant.

You are still very young to be going through this so I'm really glad you have a regime sorted and a supportive specialist to protect your current and future health.

Let us all know how you get on x
