Sinusitis and feeling desperate
« on: August 21, 2019, 12:04:20 PM »

Hi Lasies,
I've had sinusitis since Saturday. It's gradually got worse, I started antibiotics today and a decongestant nasal, spray.
I have pain in my temples, eyes, ears and jaw. Painkillers aren't shifting it, I've been in pain for three days. The doc says it will get better but it's driving me mad.
Any tips?
Thanks

Might be worth seeing your dentist, if it doesn't clear up properly. Sometimes it can be caused by an infected tooth root (low grade, not accute).

I had sinuses on one side for 15 years. It went completely when an old root canal failed and I had to have the tooth out.

Hi,
I was at the dentist a few weeks ago and everything was was fine, I'm just so fed up with it.

The ABs will certainly help, they kick in about 2.5 days after the first dose.  Maybe contact a Phramacasit to see what combination of pain relief is likely to work?

Also, don't bend forwards or sneeze  :o

I'm currently using Sudafed nasal spray, AB's, paracetamol and ibuprofen. It's not touching it😂
So how do you prevent you're from sneezing?

Not sure if you're able to sniff or too blocked up.
Sniffing up salted boiled water can help as a wash out and loosen up thick mucus to help it drain. Sounds horrendous but I actually looked forward to doing it following my sinus surgery.
Think you can buy a Sterimar spray from chemists which does a similar thing.
Hope you feel better soon x

Ive had bouts of sinusitis throughout my life and frequent sinus headaches and I know how truly horrible it is. I find the absolute best thing is steam inhalations, either plain water or with olbas in. I also put olbas on a tissue and sniff it. I take liquid sudafed as the nasal spray stops working after a few days. You can also get them in tablets. I use a steroid nasal spray.
Sometimes when its really bad the antibiotics don't work and have had to have a second lot. It could also be virally based.
I hope you get some relief.

Thanks ladies,
I've had a go at the rinsing and I must say, I got in a mess😂 however it gave me a bit of relief so I will try again! I am using olbas too.
I've got a Sudafed spray which has enabled me to breathe through my nose a little, but I have to be carefully because of it interacting with my AD's. The worst thing is that I have had constant pain in my temple for three days and ibuprofen and paracetamol are not moving it.
As it's only day one on the antibiotics I suppose I have to bare it a little longer? It all started Friday/Saturday.I
n the mean time I've diagnose myself with everything from sinus cancer to brain tumour!
Oh the joys!

Why would anything interact with anti-depressant medication  :-\ it's not something I ever consider  ::)

I've woke up this morning and my anxious is really high. I'm hot and cold and got diarrhoea, I'm sure it's due to the antibiotic, I feel so sick. How can I alleviation this?

Whatever you do don't stop them.  Eat small amounts but not close to when you take the meds. It's tough but only for a few days.

The symptoms could be due to the ABs or the infection.

If you really can't tolerate the ABs and often I am unable to, ring the Surgery and tell them.  How's the pain?

Not too bad but I can feel it building again.
I’ve started getting rid of the foulest yellow, green mucus so I do think the AB’s are working. I’ve managed to calm myself a little. Just hope it lasts, I’m going to have a drive to the shops later. Might do me good to get out a little xXx
I took so much painkillers, decongestant and AB’s yesterday and not much food, so I expect nausea and diarrhoea’s are to be expected really. I’ve done myself a ‘timetable’ for today’s meds and meals

Its probably the antibiotics that are making you feel sick and have the runs, along with the pain. Glad its no worse. Easier said than done, but try and distract yourself. I watch the chase on replay!

How's the day been?  Did U call into a Pharmacy and ask what combinations of pain relief/congestion relief are OK to take?  Different medications are designed to help different conditions but I can't remember which combinations  ::)
